Problem restoring a recovery point using Ghost 14.0 and Windows Vista Ultimate

I have been using Ghost 14.0 to create recovery points on an external hard drive connected to my Lenovo T61 laptop (32-bit Windows Vista Ultimate, Service Pack 1 - fully updated; 2.00 GB RAM, Intel Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU T9300 chipset @ 2.50 GHz, purchased Spring 2008). I recently decided to replace my 100 Gb internal hard drive (Hitachi HTS722010K9SA00; 7200 RPM, serial ATA) with a 250 Gb drive (Seagate Momentus 7200.4; 3 Gb/sec interface with Native Command Queuing and 16 Mb cache). I powered off the laptop, removed the battery, and swapped the hard drives. I then restarted the computer and inserted my Custom Symantec Recovery Disk (customized for recoverying my computer). The computer booted from the DVD drive and a Ghost interface appeared. I selected the "Recover My Computer" option and then specified the recovery point, which was a full (non-incremental), intregrity-verified backup I had performed 16 days ago which was stored on the external hard drive. There was a question about initializing disk partition structures (the new drive was unformatted), to which I answered yes (answering No I could not proceed). After a few seconds the initialization of the disk partition structures was complete and I clicked Finish to start the backup. Ghost first "Verified image and data integrity", then began "Copying Volume Data", during which time the hard drive green indicator light on my laptop was active. A message then indicated the recovery was successful and hitting OK sent me back to the original Ghost screen where I chose Exit and clicked Yes to the restart question. However, upon attempting to restart the computer it did not reboot from the new drive. Instead, after only a few seconds, a blinking cursor appeared in the upper left corner of an otherwise black screen. I allowed the cursor to blink for hours, and then shut down and powered-up again. Same thing happened. I had purchased 2 identical drives because my daughter's hard drive also needed replacing (and it was also a serial ATA interface). I repeated the proceedure with the second hard drive and my computer still would not boot after the supposedly successful image recovery. My guess is that the image was correctly copied to the new drive, but it won't boot for some reason. Does anybody know what the problem might be and how to fix it?
