OK, rather than making up stories, I will be honest.
I WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO BY A PROFESSIONAL
Out of panic, I had uninstalled and then reinstalled NIS 2010.
I KNOW THAT DOING THIS IS NO GOOD AND WILL NOT DO IT AGAIN
The uninstall went fine.
The installation process went fine
When I got to the part where I needed to activate the product, I of course needed to reconnect to the internet
I reconnected to the internet and waited until I saw the little globe sign in the lower right had corner of the screen ( the sign that indicates internet connected)
I waited a few (maybe 10 seconds) to make sure the connection was good (I use DSL)
After the 10 seconds, I went ahead and clicked the activation button on the NIS screen to activate the product.
Product appeared to activate, but when I looked down at the little globe icon, I noticed at one point it changed from globe to Yellow Triangle.
I waited until it changed back to globe, like maybe 5-10 seconds later
then ran live update. I was able to get all the updates required to bring my product up to date
But now this changing of the globe to the yellow triangle and back to globe has me concerned
So my questions are
1. did the product really activate(since I had activated this product twice before, concerned that it didi not activate this time but the Symantec server shows it as active because of previous activations)
2. Is that part of the installation process that it briefly disconnects from the internet for a few seconds after activation?
3. If product was not activated, whould everything still show green and secure?
I am able to get pulse updates and all and even have it updated to version 17.8.0.5
I just want o make sure it is active, secure, and running right.
I know I'm a pain to many of you, but I just want to do it right, and make sure it's right
