Problems setting up Norton Backup

Issue abstract:
I have just rebuilt my laptop to the spec below and reinstalled Norton as described below but am having problems setting up Backup.
Detailed description:
I have 3 specific areas I want to backup and I have started with my onedrive files which are currently about 2GB. To date 628.4 MB have been backed up according to the web site.

As I complete this my system has just finished a sync without error. However the record says it has backed up 0 GB. The w/s says 1.2 GB and the folder on disk is 2.1 GB.

  1. How do I add additional folder (I.e my other two areas)?
  2. Where can i look up this error message?
  3. When can I be confident that the backup is complete?

Product & version number: Norton 360 Delux and program version 24.10.9535 Build 24.10.9535.881

OS details: W11 Home, Version 24H2, OS Build 26100.2033) and Inspiron 15 3000

What is the error message you are seeing? Backup Error!

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

Note: v24 hides items behind mouse hover

  1. try Manage against the preset backup → Add
  2. try Security History → Cloud Backup → mouse hover → click arrow to see Advanced details
  3. green checkmark vs spinning synching
go online [here] → drill down → find/confirm added items with backup
  4. try…Backup common file types only → off

Thanks. For the moment my “manage” is unavailable even when the spinning stops so i will need to wait.
Details or error messages find, thx. Carrying on…

Oh…okay…that’s why you asked:
[ 3. When can I be confident that the backup is complete? ]
may be just cosmetic
I’ve had Backup sync failed

Thanks. Will continue to dig and get back. Thx so much.

Hi there
Items 1 and 2 seem to be fine by me. Thanks.

Am i right or wrong to assume that when the backup runs it tries to back up everything it needs to. So on the first pass if there are many files it will still try to do them in one go and not in small groups.

So that only the files that failed to backup are only ever the ones missing?

Thanks again

Hello @MRNIGELGWILLIS

  1. backs up default/preset and user added items
  2. I’d like to hope failed are the only items missing.

~ my Cloud Backup set tried/failed to back up System Volume Information apparently because I had opted Back up common file types only = off.

System Volume Information folder contains hidden protected operating system files.

I’ve since excluded System Volume Information folder.
