I'm having trouble getting the Norton firewall (connection blocking) to work well with the Back to my Mac remote control feature. I had it working well at one time but it hasn't been consistent and I can't get it to work at all now. I've set all the ports open that Apple says are needed but I'm still having trouble. The Back to my Mac feature works fine with Norton turned off, and with Apple's firewall turned on. Help, anyone?

Thanks Ryan. I think this solution solved my problem. I say "I think" because I had to pay around with some other settings but now it is working 98% of the time now that I have included your solution. Sometimes the hand-shaking takes a little long and I still haven't figured out if I really need port 4488 open or not, it keeps asking me to allow it or block it. Prior to your fix it really wasn't working at all. Thanks again for your help.
Hello : i have norton antivirus. I have the same problem reported here. I have enclosed a screen shot of the message that keeps popping up in my computer all the time. I tried to implement the suggestion that you offered but I do not know how to access the "Norton Firewall" to change its settings as you suggested in your post. Could you tell me how do I get to the "norton firewall" to change its settings? Is Norton Firewall a different application than Norton Antivirus? Does it come with NOrton Antiviurs? If not, then my problem is different because I cannot find any Norton Firewall in my computer. I have a Mac 10.6.7
Norton Firewall comes with Norton Internet Security. Did you purchase Norton Internet Security?
If you only have Norton AntiVirus, then this problem cannot be coming from the Norton Firewall because as you noted, Norton Firewall is not part of Norton AntiVirus.
To open Norton Firewall (if you have it) click on the Norton QuickMenu, which is the black & yellow Symantec logo in your Mac's menubar. Select Norton Firewall from the menu that opens, and select "Open Norton Firewall".
If you don't have these menu items, then Norton Firewall is not installed. Perhaps you are using Apple's built-in firewall, or another 3rd party firewall.
Hello: I do not have Norton Firewall. So that is not the problem. I have now turned off my native Mac's Firewall. Why would a NOrton Firewall message have come up at all if I dont have Norton Firewall? Will turning off my Mac's Firewall stop the problem? What happens when I am traveling and need to turn on my Firewall.? Will the message come up again? Can the problem be corrected at the Mobile Me preferences level? I dont even subscribe to Mobile Me . Thanks
Hello: Correction. I do have NOrton Firewall. I just did not know how to find it. I have followed the steps that you suggested in your post. There is something that still shows as blocked. It is in reference to fd00:6587:52d7:36::1. Can you tell me what this sequence of numbers means? what is Norton blocking actually? Thanks
