For the last few months I have been using Express VPN as well as Norton 360 with Windows 10. On three different occasions on two different computers, Express VPN has spontaneously disappeared completely from the computer. I queried Express VPN about this and they speculated that my antivirus program had misidentified it and deleted it. I want to explore that.
Thus I want to know--is there some way I can verify that it was Norton 360 that deleted it? And does their explanation make sense to any knowledgeable observer? Also, they recommended that I "whitelist" the program on my antivirus program. Is that something I can do? Is it something I should do? I am not eager to do it, for obvious reasons.
I've had a lot of problems with Norton VPN. Often have to chat - download - uninstall - reinstall - blah, blah. When I talk to support they "fix" the problem, but never seems to stay fixed. Norton should never have released a VPN - and now they should make it an optional ad-on. It has been and still is a piece of crap.
Have you checked your Norton Security History -> Resolved Security Risks &or Quarantine for related event/s. Yes, I have, nothing about express VPN there.
Have you checked your machines File Explorer? Norton deleted an entire installed program with nary a peep? No, nothing in program files. I don't know where program data is.
Are you reporting ExpressVPN is nowhere to be found on your machine. Yes, I am
ExpressVPN is not listed with your installed programs? No.
ExpressVPN folder is not with Program Files (x86)? No
Are you reporting Expess VPN was installed and working one day and then Express VPN was not installed? Yes--I have reporting that that has happened three times on two different machines.
Thanks for your help. Looking forward to hearing from you again.
head scratch
as test: ExpressVPN installed okay...my side. That's how I knew ExpressVPN installed in Program File (x86) and I saw ExpressVPN folder in ProgramData. Since, I didn't have an activation code. That was all I could do my side. I've since uninstalled ExpressVPN. Sorry
I run Norton 360. I have a third party stand-alone VPN installed.
