Problems with monitoring does anything work right lol

Ok firstly even on a user with limited/standard account type simply clicking the disable option and then closing or cancelling the the box asking for parent login without actually typing in the login info will still disable the thing

So thats a big worry if people can simply disable it without knowing the password and email etc

Secondly i tested this monitoring set up an account to monitor and using that account did some im activity on windows live messenger and nothing was recorded in the logs at all, the settings dont even show any im names or friends or anything either

Thirdly when i view the logs the only thing that shows me anything is websites and then only when i click all time, not today or yesterday or last 7 days that shows nothing only all time

***Update Seems to be working ok ish now still a little trouble viewing the stuff online in the logs at times but most seems to work ok now, not sure what was wrong before***

I am not sure I follow this exactly. I tried exactly this scenario, click the "paw" icon, select "Disable Norton Safety Minder". It shows a dialog box "Turn off Norton Safety Minder" where you would need to put credentials in and the amount of time to disable. If I click the upper right close box or "cancel", the dialog just closes and the product is not disabled. How are you determining that the product is disabled? The right way is that the "paw" icon will be gray and the menu will change to show "Enable Norton Safety Minder".

Are you certain you have the settings correct for Instant Messaging. Go to http://onlinefamily.norton.com/ log in, go to the child you want to monitor and be certain that the "Chat supervision" is set to "on".

And finally the log viewing issue is something we are continuing to look into. There have been several reported cases where logs have not been showing up for a while. Be assured that all logs are stored on our servers and that there is a separate process that moves those logs into an area where the web site can gain access to them.

Let me know if you have any more issues.

Also what i have noticed is the occasional framework error message too and sometimes in the taskbar i see two of the icons yellow with the paw and one of them has a red circle with a white x top right corner and says something about setting up properly or soemthing when you hover over it, clicking it makes it go away nothing else happens and it doesnt seem to do anything to the program, logs sometimes are not being recorded but mostly they are

As for what i mentioned about viewing the logs, they sometimes show up sometimes dont its not just a case of new info taking timeto be available stuff from yesterday or further back isnt showing up one minute but fiddle around changing the today yesterday last 7 days etc or changing category of logs to display back and forth a few times and it usually shows up eventually but is a great hassle having to click things a dozen times before it works

Since we have updated our servers, has this issue been resolved?

Matt

Well i still occasionally get the framework errors even just yesterday i had one on 2 different computers and the paw icon was visible 3 times and one with a red circle and white x 2 without then 2 disappeared when i clicked the one with the x

This happens a couple of times a week and doesnt appear to be affecting anything as of yet but im not sure if it is or not

Mainly its just annoying and stuff and not stopping the working of the script too often or significantly that i know of

The framework issue will be resolved shortly. With the help of one of the other posters on this forum we were able to track down the issue and are working on a fix. This should be updated within the next couple of weeks.

Updates will happen automatically so there is nothing to do on your part.

Thanks for the update.

Matt

Ok thanks for the info

A new version of the safety minder client is available (1.1.0.21). I would suggest trying to install the new version and see if you are still having difficulties.
