Problems with NIS 2010 - Idle Quick Scan

Hi,

I just installed NIS 2010 and I'm having some problems related to idle quick scans.

Basically, once they start, they won't stop, can't be manually stopped, and clobber my computer not due to CPU usage, but it takes over the hard drive to the point where nothing else can get going.

So here are my questions...

1. Once the computer is idle for the time-out period, and the Idle Quick Scan starts, should it automatically stop when I start doing something on the computer?  (Mine does not).

2. Once it starts, should I be able to manually stop it by clicking the stop button the Norton tasks screen?  (Mine won't)

3. If a full system scan is already in progress, should the Idle Quick Scan start, and run at the same time as the full scan? (mine does.)

4. Is there a way to disable them completely, if all else fails?

5. How long should they take?  (I've let mine go for about 4 hours and finally stopped it using the power switch.)

Basically, once one starts, I have to shut-down the computer using the power switch because nothing else moves.  The HD light is on steady.  I'm on XP home edition SP2.

Thanks,

Jim
