I bought the Norton Security Deluxe (NSD) version 2 days ago and have installed it on 4 devices as of now. 2 are mobiles running on Android, 3rd is Windows 10 Desktop and 4th is Windows Vista laptop. On mobiles, it was a clean install/new install.
The desktop had a previous version of Norton installed (Norton for windows) whose subscription expired a week back (I didn't renew THAT version, but installed NSD instead). The Norton installer gave a message and removed that older version. The laptop had Norton 365, which I removed manually. Now, when I go to myaccount on Norton web-site, in Devices page, both desktop and laptop show error symbols/messages, but in Services page, all the 4 devices are listed (though their status is not shown).
I have ascertained that NSD is active on all the 4 devices, esp. the desktop and laptop, where it is showing the message as "You Are Protected". For the two windows devices, I clicked on each of them in the Devices page, and tried to enter the new product key but that didn't work either.
Attaching the screenshots. Hope someone can get this sorted out, because, locally the NSD shows the desktop and laptop are protected, but same status does NOT reflect on the my account webpage. If the status itself is not shown correctly on the webpage (and doesn't accept the new product key, with a dissatisfying reason for it), then how can one expect it to work properly and provide security to those devices?
liquidmetal - not much help to your query but I've had exactly the same problem since I installed Norton Security 5 devices at the end of November 2016. I have given up worrying about it and just take "My Services" as being correct rather than the information shown on the "Devices" page. Similar queries have been posted on this Forum but no conclusive answers have been given as far as I'm aware.
Wow, this is really weird. Just a while back, I logged to manage.norton.com from various devices and the status is:
iphone6s Safari: 4 devices show green on mydevices web-page. Clicking on cell phone 'box' and then clicking 'manage anti-theft features' opens up the moblesecurity page, though the locate feature still leaves a lot to be desired (not getting the current location; still shows home address as current location, whereas the phone is at least 10km away!)
MBP FF: 4 devices show green on mydevices web-page. Clicking on cell phone 'box' and then clicking 'manage anti-theft features' opens up the moblesecurity page, BUT locate feature doesn't even start (has that progress bar thing going on)
Windows Vista laptop Chrome & FF: 4 devices show green on mydevices web-page. Clicking on cell phone 'box' and then clicking 'manage anti-theft features' opens up the moblesecurity page, though the locate feature still leaves a lot to be desired (not getting the current location; still shows home address as current location, whereas the phone is at least 10km away!)
Windows 10 desktop FF: 3 devices show green on mydevices web-page. Here it actually shows the Vista laptop with a Warning sign!!! Clicking on cell phone 'box' and then clicking 'manage anti-theft features' opens up the moblesecurity page, BUT locate feature doesn't even start (has that progress bar thing going on).
BUT.... I also installed NSD on my Mac yesterday just for the heck of it (though not really required on a Mac) AND the Mac does NOT show on the mydevices web-page at all. You can still see the available + box but on Services it is shown and I have no more available seats.
Thanks Peter, well it is still the same after several hours. ---statuses don't reflect correctly...a webpage that is supposed to be used for wiping/locking cell phones in case they are lost is unavailable...wow, this is VERY unimpressive frankly. One would expect that it would work, esp. when it is being touted so much. I guess it is just like everything else... lot of hot air and talk...
Anyway, I have posted THIS problem on the other forum as suggested.
Not sure if this is related, but I and some others have been seeing issues on that web site. Norton is aware and what you are seeing may be a result of them working on the site. I just tried and had no problem on the site. It could also be a regional issue.
Try again later in the day and if you are still seeing this start a new thread in the Mobile Security forum board. https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-mobile-security
All, thanks for your replies. One final thing though: I tried to go to mobilesecurity.norton.com since that URL is supposed to be used for mobile device security--lock, wipe etc. BUT...this is the only thing I get. I tried it on FF, Safari, Chrome on my MacBook Pro (MBP) and the same thing each time i.e nothing comes up on the page. The MBP is my primary.
floplot, there have been some other replies to your post, but to answer your queries:
I didn't have Premium subscription. Earlier I had the older Norton Antivirus (2014?) version that was compatible only with Windows (I am told) and which was installed when that Windows desktop was on Vista (I think), and now that desktop is upgraded to Win10. I had further extended/re-subscribed as & when it ended. Finally, if I'm not mistaken, that older subscription expired on 9th Jan 2017.
So on 15th Jan, instead of going for that version again, I bought NSD (5 seats) from the Norton online store for India valid for 3 years (I'm shaking my head as I type as to what possessed me to do that!!)-hence the 1000+ days. Don't have any other subscriptions active other than NSD.
I believe floplot may be confused over the terminology. Norton Mobility Premium is an upgrade from the free Norton Mobility that is also offered. Norton Mobility Premium comes an "extra" if you would to Norton Security nd Norton Security Premium. Thus, as an owner of NS Deluxe floplot would be entitled to Norton Mobile Premium.
For the Norton Mobile Security, the Premium version refers to the full paid version as opposed to the free version. It still shows the same even though a Norton Security Deluxe key is used to activate NMS.
I just looked at your screenshot of your Mobile Devices. It shows Premium Subscription on it. You mention that you have a Deluxe subscription. You are also showing Invalid Product Key. Did you have a Norton Security Premium subscription previously? I notice you have over a 1000 days left on your Mobile Norton subscription.
Do you have more than 1 active Norton Subscription?
May I ask you where did you purchase your Norton product?
Yup, I compared the names. It is not the names mismatch between the device and website, but rather the status that the website shows regarding those devices i.e. the website has them in 'red' or 'orange' indicating some kind of error/problem/warning, though on the devices (Windows desktop & Windows laptop) the NSD program itself shows "You are protected" and green.
Thanks @peterweb. Unfortunately Help - Subscription Status didn't help. The status on my account page is the same.
This is a bit unnerving because as I said, if the program & web-site are not able to talk and update the status accurately (including resolving any conflicts since the installation has been properly done from the site itself), causes one to wonder. Anyway on the desktop and laptop the NSD installation itself shows the "you are protected" message, so will take a leap of faith and assume the devices are truly protected. Of course, final course might be to reinstall on both the devices & hope THAT would works, but I guess for now I'll leave it as it is. Thanks for your input.
