I have been running NSW2007 Basic Edition under Windows SP3 Home Edition. Following some minor problems with Speed Disk I decided to reinstall NSW.
I ran the Norton Removal Tool and then as recommended downloaded the file NSWBE071010.exe and installed NSW from that.
Everything went well, but Speed Disk threw up all sorts of problems. I set up a scheduled run but it didn't start, and when I checked, the scheduling it was back to the default values. A manually started defrag ran fine, but next time I ran the program it had lost the results, and would not display the date last optimised. Similarly I could run an analysis, but if I switched to the optimisation page and back, the analysis results disappeared. Norton System Doctor reported a wonderful 0% fragmentation!
In desperation I ran the Removal Tool again and tried to reinstall NSW from my DVD, but running it gives a message that the configuration is incomplete. Clicking on "Continue" comes back to the same message. Also when I restart Windows I get a message "00076881.exe Unable to locate component. NUMISC.dll not found": NUMISC.dll is in fact in place in the Norton Utilities folder and I have no idea what this executable file is.
I have taken all precautions such as disabling virus checking and backups when installing and uninstalling NSW. I don't know what else to try to get a working version.
