Product Key problem

I have recently bought my Norton I.S 2011 from an electronics shop where they had a special offer.. They said that "with the program you get aditional keys as a gift use them whenever you want!"

[Removed]

Are these valid ? I ask this because they don't work on the 18.5.0.125 version and finding a valid key is very difficult. Why do the above mentioned keys don't work ? Or for what version are the key for ? How can I get a valid produck key except buying one (low on money) ? Can someone help me?

Removing the key references will make me able to install another version of Norton and register it ?

Removing the references prevents other people copying and trying to use them and complies with forum guidelines regarding not posting details of activation keys.

Is it possible to verify if a key is valid or not ? If not, how can I get a valid product key except buying one(low on money) ?

HI Sebastian

The check as to whether they are valid has already been done by you as the keys have failed. The only way to get a valid key is to purchase one.

If you contact Customer Support as below I understand they have the ability to check a KEY for validity and whether it has been used already or not. the OnLine CHAT route is the one that users report back to be quick and painless!

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there.

You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

You may have to scroll down to see the link to the CHAT service and if "Nathan" intercepts your attempt do anything you can to avoid starting with that robot because it will run through a host of questions none of which will deal with the problem and it will then tell you to use CHAT!

Pleae let us know how you get on.

Hi Sebastian,

You can contact Customer Support (Online Chat is quickest) to check the validity of your Product Keys.  If the keys are not usable you would need to contact the seller about getting your money back.

I have decided to buy a product key (although my parents disagree with this), but I am old enough to do what is right in protecting my virtual world and besides it is my computer that they are using. Thanks anyway for the detailed information about Norton. This was an interesting lesson for me to learn.

Sebastian --

I think you ae absolutely right about protection being more important than the price but there are often valid ways of saving some money.

Note that you can in effect buy a key and be sure it is valid by renewing from Norton itself on their website;

Or you can look around in the weekend flyers, especially if you are in the USA,  for a good price after rebates or discounts. Provided you buy exactly the same subversion -- Standard or Netbook -- as you have installed on your machine at present and just use the KEY that comes on the envelope of the disk to activate your installation for a further year.

If you renew with Norotn on line you can do it any time since the new time is added to the old time; if you buy a new KEY then wait until a couple of days before your present subscription expires and use the KEY then since it replaces the unexpired time and does not add on, although we have heard of Customer Support adding it back in .....

I would not be worried about checking with Norton Customer Support to see if your key is valid -- if it is then they can help, or we can, you to match it up with the product and get it working. If the key were for a slightly different version then they or we can give you a link to download what matches.

And if for any reason the key is not valid then you help Norton deal with pirates! They won't be angry at you! <s>

So let us know what you'd like to do .......

I want to buy a product key for one year for 1 PC for my Norton I.S. 2011 18.5.0.125 (but do not find it) or if there is a norton internet security 2011 that has protection for 1 PC. I only found a product key valid for 3 PCs but I have that much money. Can someone tell me where can I buy a product key valid for one year or that cost up to 45 euros? And put the link?

EDIT: Sory. I am so upside down today!. I DID NOT SEE THAT THE PRICE IN DOLLARS (I think only in Euros). Thats ok then. Forget about the link.

EDIT 2: Cannot enter my country in the billing information! I am not from the US, but from Romania. What can I do to buy this product key ?

Sebastian,

You can only legitimately buy a KEY on its own from Norton -- which they would call Renewing.

Since you are in Romania you would do this through the local website which you reach, if you are not on it, vai the global symbol at the top of the webpage.

But I've gone to the Romanian page and while I don't understand the language I can get to the Store and to the Renewal page http://buy.norton.com/estore/mf/options  which appears to be UK based since the prices are in £ sterling.which is about €1.14

It seems that Norotn do not offer the 1 PC version on line but you can use the KEY for a 3 PC version to activate and it should come up correctly with the ability to activate on 3 PCs.

Here in the USA rather than Renew on line it is often cheaper to buy a boxed set when on sale in the stores or on line and just use the KEY on your installation. You have to be careful to buy from a reputable source and to buy the same subversion -- in the case of NIS that would be Standard or Netbook -- since Keys are not interchangeable. But the year that you buy does not matter if it's in the last few years.

I'm sorry not to be more helpful but if that does not help you I can only suggest you contact Norton Customer Support via the OnLine CHAT as below:
