Why have Symantec decided that users of Norton 360 V3 can no longer install AOP and instead, if they want Parental Controls, have to use Online Family Safety instead.
Hi,
I'm the product manager for OnlineFamily.Norton, and I wanted to answer your question about the Add-On Pack. You can absolutely still install the Add-On Pack if you'd like - it's available from the parental controls download page, but you can also find it here:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/products/parental-controls/index.jsp
However, right now we're offering free access to OnlineFamily.Norton for early adopters. So, if you sign up for OnlineFamily.Norton today, you'll get permanent free access to the service.
It's a full-featured parental controls product, much more comprehensive than the Add-On Pack. It offers views of children's web browsing history, search terms, social networking & instant message activity, and computer time monitoring, in addition to the basic web filtering capability that is in the Add-On Pack.
So, if you'd still like to use the Add-On Pack, you're welcome to do so, but I wanted to make sure you knew that it's a great time to get a much more comprehensive product for free.
Feel free to private message me or ask any other questions-
Best,
Jody
Thanks for the comprehensive answer.
Jody,
Just for clarity. When you said:
"However, right now we're offering free access to OnlineFamily.Norton for early adopters. So, if you sign up for OnlineFamily.Norton today, you'll get permanent free access to the service."
were you referring to all early adopters of ONF or only those who are also subscribers to Norton 360?
