I received an alert that a loan was taken against my property. Norton advertises that if I pay for this lifelock title security I will rest easy. This loan was in the millions and Norton support could do nothing to help me resolve it. They sent me to Lexus Nexus, which was a totally automated phone system, then they tell me to call my home mortgage company. WHAT? On my own, I figure out I should call my county recorder of deeds and find out what is happening. I am assured that there is no current loan attached to my mortgage. So now I have conflicting information. My question to the community is, has anyone come accross this double talk from Norton Support? And, what advice could you give me so I can sleep tonight? Thanks so much.
Hello @Linda_Myers
Sorry…
fwiw ~
Recorder of Deeds office (my county) offers free County Fraud Alert System.
Email is sent anytime a document has been recorded in the office against my name.

Caveat: I’m not LifeLock by Norton subscriber
Thanks. My county office walked me through the process. Now I just wonder if I’m getting the same thing Norton does for free. ??? I’m more concerned that Norton sent me an alert for something that apparently hasn’t happened. I depend on Norton to do the job I pay them for, if they can’t do it, I’ll find a service that can. All day, getting the run around from Norton support, they can’t tell me what this multi million dollar loan on my property in my name is for. Crazy.
I’m starting to think Norton was hacked.
and you’re sure alert was from legit Norton?
Presuming, alert is from legit LifeLock by Norton…my thinking is that the support level that users can reach…simply don’t know…what you need to know…simply don’t know…how to find nor care about…what you need to know…the support level users can reach are simply up against layers of corporate compartmentalized bureaucracy that does not prioritize customer service/support.
Let us know a service that can.
Yes - legit. My last call of the day the agent took that step to confirm the email was legit. But it was in my Norton online account too - so I know it went through Norton somehow. I completely agree with you - the level we can reach don’t know or don’t care.
A family member used Privacy Guard for years with no crazy issues. Maybe I’ll check them out.
