Where in the world are you located? Maybe other users from your area can help you until the feature is more widely available.

I am in USA. How can i be protecting 6 of 5 devices. haha

Maybe that feature is connecting to your Devices page in your Norton Account. That is often wrong and it could be sending the wrong information to the new Protection Score.

You are the only one here that has posted about this feature. Maybe @bjm or @SoulAsylum can look for this new feature and respond.

The Norton Protection Score is a personalized metric designed to give you a simple, at-a-glance view of your overall digital safety. It’s a dynamic number that changes based on your security settings, behaviors, and the specific features you have actively enabled from your Norton plan.

Key Details

  • Purpose: The score helps you understand your current level of protection, spot potential security gaps, and follow clear recommendations to become safer online.
  • Calculation: The score is determined by how effectively you are using the available security tools. Installing the app is just the start; you gain points for actively turning on and using key protections.
  • Personalized: The maximum potential score and the specific advice you receive are tailored to the features included in your specific Norton subscription plan (e.g., Norton 360, Norton AntiVirus Plus).
  • Dynamic: The score updates in real-time or within a few hours of you taking action, such as enabling a feature or adjusting a setting.

Factors That Affect Your Score

Your score is influenced by various security measures you have in place, which can include:

  • Device Protection:
    • Ensuring all eligible devices are protected.
    • Having up-to-date security software and operating systems installed.
    • Using the Smart Firewall.
    • Enabling Safe Web browsing protection.
  • Personal Data & Identity Protection:
    • Using the Password Manager to create and store strong, unique passwords.
    • Setting up Dark Web Monitoring for your personal information.
    • Using a Secure VPN, especially on public Wi-Fi networks.
    • Configuring Cloud Backup for your important files.
  • Family Safety (if applicable):
    • Using parental control tools to help keep kids safer online.

How to Improve Your Score

The primary way to improve your Protection Score is to follow the personalized recommendations provided within the Norton app or web portal. These suggestions might prompt you to:

  • Turn on a specific feature, like Secure VPN or Smart Firewall.
  • Add personal information for monitoring.
  • Run a software update.
  • Set up Cloud Backup.

By addressing these suggested actions, you actively enhance your security posture, which is then reflected in a higher Protection Score.

============================

The Norton Protection Score feature is generally available in most regions where Norton products are sold, including the United States, Canada, throughout Europe, Australia, and many other countries in Asia and Latin America.
The key factor in whether you can access it is the specific Norton plan you have and its compatibility with your registered country or region.
Availability by Platform
You can access your Protection Score via:
Windows PCs: Through the Norton device security application (often under the “Report Card” section).
Mobile Devices: Within the Norton 360 app for both iOS and Android (by pulling up the “Your Protection Report” from the main screen).
Web Browsers: By signing into your account on the my.Norton.com portal and navigating to the “Protection Report” tab.
Regional Limitations
While the core feature is widespread, certain specific features that contribute to the score (like credit monitoring or Dark Web Monitoring for certain types of information) may vary in availability or functionality depending on local laws and regional partnerships.
If you are traveling or have moved, you may need to ensure your Norton account’s registered country/region is correctly updated to ensure all features function as intended.

must be rolling it out in different regions. you can experience it soon and work through some early bugs… nothing that bad. Just says wrong amount of devices and tells me to set up norton cloud backup which was already set up.

It will show on your app eventually. no need to go to browser. shows in lower left of app and click it to view details but not all details are correct at this time. Most are.
Maybe running live updates will help to update your app.

That is an unusual message! The “You’re protecting 6 out of 5 devices” notification likely indicates a minor visual bug in the Norton Protection Score interface rather than a genuine security issue or an actual overage of your license.

Here is a breakdown of what might be happening:

  • Display/Sync Issue: The software may have a temporary glitch in how it counts or displays your protected devices. This can often happen after adding, removing, or renaming devices before the system fully syncs the changes.
  • Counting Old Installations: If you previously had Norton installed on an old phone or computer that is no longer active, the Norton server might still have that device listed on its backend, even if it’s not currently in use.
  • License Management: Your Norton subscription likely allows for a specific number of active installations. The system is probably allowing the sixth device to connect under the assumption you might remove one of the others soon, but the interface is reporting the count incorrectly against your limit.

What you can do:
If you want to correct the display or ensure your devices are correctly managed:

  1. Check Your Norton Account: Log in to your main Norton account online dashboard, not just the desktop app.
  2. Manage My Installs: Navigate to the “Device Security” or “My Installs” section. This page provides the definitive list of all devices registered to your account and their status.
  3. Remove Old Devices: If you see old or unfamiliar devices listed, you can sign out or remove them from your account to free up a slot and potentially clear the error message. This is also a good security practice.

The score itself is more of a general security gauge than a strict license counter. As long as all the devices you actively use are protected, your security is intact.

You can manage your devices directly via the Norton Account Management page or find more help on the Norton support site.

yes ,i think the support guy said it is a glitch. I have had the same phone for a long time and on both locations that list devices or amounts of devices show 5 of them. maybe it is some old pc or something. Idk. They need to test this stuff and work out the bugs, then roll it out, but it isnt that big of a deal i guess. i am fine as long as i dont check this app. haha. Once i do, i always find some sort of issue or annoyance, but nothin major here.

This still says complete set up to improve your score. My backup is set up already and it just ran and completed. Oh well. This message does not show on the Protection score tab though in my account, etc. so that must be a communication or update delay or something to the app. Ok, i need to get other work done. This has sucked up my time again. haha that is why i dont want to check this d*mn app.
