Please excuse my extreme level of ignorance, but I'm a very new NIS 2010 user! (Previously used Zone Alarm)
I connect both my laptop & desktop computers (not at the same time) either directly to a satellite modem without a wireless router or via USB mobile Broadband & do not want to share any files or printers. I have chosen the 'Public' Network option. Is this the best level of protection for me? Should I also click on the 'Restrict' option? I want to feel confident I have the best level of protection but still be able to access internet functions.
Also are there any manual configuration changes I should make or should I just let the program do it all for me?
One more query, on my Windows XP Desktop, how can I check if it is in the 'Home' or 'Public' network? It is easy to find on my Windows 7 Laptop, but I have not been able to find it on the older XP computer.

I would suggest to keep the default settings as it is. Norton 2010 have application intelligence baked in, allowing it to make security decisions so that you don’t have to. Thanks. I am referring to the Network location options i.e. Home Network, Work Network or Public Network. Are these options actually part of Microsoft rather than NIS?
