Issue abstract: Regarding Norton 360 & Norton secure VPN

For several months I have been unable to access public wi-fi in several locations where I was previously able to do so.

In attempting to connect to wi-fi the SSID is not listed among the available ones.

Asking other device users at that location they have the SSID listed & are able to connect. AT&T advised that ad-tracker block may be causing it, but turning it off has not resolved the issue.

The tag you added to your post is Android. What device and Android version are you using?

Do you have the VPN enabled while trying to access the troublesome networks? If so, try connecting with VPN turned off and then turn it on after the connection is made.

Are they unsecured or secured networks.

I did a quick search on wifi networks not showing up gives a few things to try/check.

  • Try to move closer to the router/access point.
  • Restart your device to see if it will then see the SSID for that network.
  • Turn wifi on your device off and then back on to have it refresh the available network list.

Hello. Pleased to meet you.

The device is an Alcatel TETRA, model # 5041C. Android version 8.1.0

VPN is enabled, as the networks in question are unsecured.

I had searched those keywords earlier with similar hits, & I have tried those solutions to no avail.

First comment I must make. Be sure you do not uninstall Norton 360 Android because the minimum OS requirement has moved to Android 10. You can continue to use an already installed 360 on an earlier Android version, but you will not be able to reinstall.

Have you tried changing the VPN protocol? Open 360 and tap on Privacy and then tap the Settings gear icon at the top right. Then tap on VPN Protocol Settings. The try each protocol to see if that makes any difference.
