Hi, guys? Any progress about the hot fix? I have to update my NIS 2009 everyday, it’s tired.
They are working on the Hotfix. Hopefully it will be released soon. It will come through on a LiveUpdate. I am in the same position as you are. I manually run LiveUpdate several times a day. All good things come to those who wait.
Well, i'm having an almost similar issue and have posted about it.
I have 2 laptops; one is for work and the other is personal. Problem is with my personal laptop. Pulse updates works until the virus definitions changes version. Currently, i'm having virus definition 20081015.003 and the last update came 12 hours ago while my work laptop is already on 20081016.004. So, what i'm doing everyday is to download the Intelligent Updater each time it changes version. Very frustrating and time consuming ....
Not sure how is the hotfix is gonna fix this but i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be out soon.
I’ve got the same problem,just like yours…
Not only the Pulse Updats,Automatic LiveUpdate, Norton Community Watch and Norton Insight Submission never works…
All I have to do is waiting for the “Hotfix”… Can the Symantec Technicians solve these problem at once? Thanks a lot!
Right a_skywalker, we have the exact same issues. Those items have never run for me either. Last week, after sending in logs as requested, a Symantec employee sent the following email:
"The issue is that you have an unusual network routing table, and automatic LiveUpdate does not realize that you are online and that it is OK to run. I wouldn't really want to suggest modifying your routing table, this could have unpredictable and possibly unsafe results. We are working to bring out a patch for this as soon as we can. In the meantime, I would suggest running LiveUpdate manually. It should work just fine and bring your machine fully up to date."
So that's what I've neen doing, running LiveUpdate manually several times a day. Hopefully the Hotfix will be released soon and hopefully it will resolve the issues. At this point, that's all I know.
Hi Hoversky,
One solution i tried using was i turned off "check for server certificate revocation" in IE. I'm not sure how relevant it is to our problems but my NIS 2009 is now updating like clockwork. And when it is not updating like it should, a gentle manual Liveupdate will get it kicking hehehe .....
So, to turn this option off, you go to : IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Scroll down to Security and uncheck "check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)".
After you've unchecked it, reboot your PC and once connected to the Internet, click on "Run Liveupdate" in the NIS 2009 console.
It worked for me so i hope it will work for you too bro ....
Cheers !
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn’t work on my system. Still waiting for the Symantec patch to come through…
hi, jamok
Thank you.
But it didn't work on my laptop too. I am still waiting for patch ...
delete ncodefs
delete ncodefs? what’s the meaning?
Hi all. Notice this pertains to Vista. I have vista Home Premium with the Vista service pack 1. I'm about to decide to get NIS 2009, but now some of this has me saying, whoa wait a minute.
This happening with all Vista products?

Actually, from what I understand the autoupdate/pulse update issue is non-vista related. It is an issue with some internet connection setups. They are working on a fix..but it is going on 3 weeks now, since the issue has been brought up and the problem identified. Perhaps a Symantec employee can give us an update on the status of the fix.
It's now more than a month since the problem was identified and still no patch. Still running LiveUpdate manually every day. That keeps protection up to date but still, I'm starting to wonder if we'll even get a patch. It's just frustrating and I thought I'd say something.
On a positive note, the product has been great in all other respects.
Hello!
I´m new her in this community. So at first many greetings to all members !
I have also the problem with pulse updates. But unfortunately the manual Live Update seems also to fail.
I have installed NIS 2009 on my sons PC (XP, SP3). The Pulse Updates will be recognized in the CPU-Information-Screen of NIS2009. It seems they will be working. But on the main screen this is not updated. Some days ago I´ve got there a red NIS-Symbol warning because of 13 days out of updates. I´ve clicked the repair button, the Live Update window opened and after some time I´ve got the message, that no new updates are available (??!!). And the red symbol warning remains. The same happened after a click directly on Live Update.
But if I download the newest definitions from Symantec for example "20081031-003-v5i32.exe" it works all very well (every few minutes the pulse updates come in and the status on the main screen of NIS 2009 is refreshing)...... Until I turn off the PC.
Then it´s the same problem. Until I would install the downloaded newest definition file.
???
I hope for a soon hotfix to the Problem...
No patch, no response, has Symantec really any plan to resolve this problem?
Relax…of course they are.You can still run Live Update manually.
Hello hoversky,
Sorry for the frustration.
We are working on testing a patch that should be available really soon to address issues including this one.
We have posted that we're working on the fix for this issue in other threads regarding this issue. We have full intention on getting this issue resolved.
Hi, it's so nice to hear from you guys, thank you very much for your response. To be honest, I like NIS 2009 very much except for this issue, it's really an excellent product. That is why I decide to keep waiting and updating by manually everyday.
OK, thank you again. :)
My thoughts exactly. I am eagerly awaiting the patch.
Did the patch get released yet!?
