My cousin, in a town about 10 miles from me, has this infection. I cant get rid of it other than a re format and I dont want to do that. I am the one working on the computer, so it may be a few days in between parts of this that I can get to, just as you are tied up with other things too.
He has Windows 7 Home 64 bit on a Desktop I built. I have a flash drive.

Before you cut me off by not following instructions, I just got called out of town until tomorrow night and will not be able to acces the computer, so I went ahead and ran the frst64 on the computer and here is the file.

You probably have the zeroaccess!inf4 virus... Quads on here I doubt will help you because I have yet to see him actually do anything except that you confirm the problem because he wont help even if all you've used is norton... Go up tosupport and click on virus....make the phone call and do the 100$ virus removal and allow them to remotely access your computer...it is completely safe and you see exactly what they are doing. I just did it and it was so much better and faster than trying to listen to the very judgeMENTAL quads. And it cleared allll issues in my computer including a root kit that I had noticed but couldn't remove myself
I will await a response from Quads before I do anything else. If I already messed up, then I will look for other solutions, but if I have not, I have faith that Quads will take care of it.
thanks for your suggestion, but no thanks. I also do not see a point in paying Norton AGAIN, for something that they should be able to prevent from happeneing in the first place.
Also, I much appreciate you taking me out of line for help as Quads does these in order that they show up in reverse, meaning the oldest ones first. So you being a [bleep], bumped me 5 positions. Why dont you go troll somewhere else or PM people instead of this garbage.

You have more than zeroaccess, so I would have had to change what I did compared to if it was just zeroaccess. (partition and BCD involved)

You are the one that decided to do your own thing and be a PC expert for someone elses PC. Now I see why so many PC's have massive holes to fix, everyone thinks I will run this that and the other.
And Hahaha, my policy weeded out another one with a personality trait I see.

Well, here is my fix. I reinstalled windows by putting in the OEM CD, selecting the upgrade option so it would not delete my Data and installed programs.
That replaced the corrupted Services.exe with the correct one. Also, on the last reboot, I inserted the Norton Bootable recovery tool CD and let it run and it removed the other problems on the HDD. So in about 2 hours, all was well. I did not need the attitude from the [bleep] from Pakistan, QUADS.
The REAL issue is how Norton cannot prevent this from happening in the first place, and once it does, why it has to be so difficult to remove it. The NBRT shoule be able to fix issues like this ZeroAccess trojan.
Zone Alarm is now installed on my 12 year old cousins computer, and we will see what happens. Cheers!
