I would like to note that I am rather peeved at the customer service page (claims you can email them, but you can't really) as well as the IT services provided by my college. Hopefully the people on this board will be able to provide the advice or direction that the college staff who are paid to do this would/could not.
Anyway, recently my computer has contracted some Adware that Norton did not get rid of, looking online I found a program that had gained excellent reviews (Spyware doctor) and am considering purchasing it. However I thought I would ask you guys before I bought and installed the program spyware program ( that way I can find out if the software does not 'play well together' before the program due to incompatibility tries to kill my computer)-->
Do you know if Spyware Doctor 6.0 will work well with Norton 360? While Norton does have some function in Spyware removal, I was wondering if the addition/installation of other Adware/spyware removal programs would cause my computer to go haywire?
Any advice or knowledge that you could impart would be appreciated.
There is no need of Spyware Doctor if you have the latest version of Norton 360 - version 3.0 as it is having advanced antispyware technology. Spyware Doctor also has a realtime protection/scan which runs in the background which may conflict with Norton 360 Antispyware feature. Symantec does not recommend having multiple firewalls/antivirus/Antispyware installed on the same computer at one time and it will be better if you run only one anti-virus, anti-spyware or firewall program as there is no guarantee for compatibility between different security products. You may encounter unknown problems between the programs and it may also affect system performance. Running only Norton 360 provides the best protection and minimizes conflicts between security programs. Otherwise, you may need to disable the real time protection from one of the security programs and use the other to avoid conflicts in running programs with similar features together. If you still need some additional protection, you can go for either Malwarebytes AntiMalware or SuperAntiSpyware. Both are effective, freeware versions and won’t conflict with Norton 360 as they are run-on-demand scanners. There is no real time protection in Malwarebytes or SuperAntiSpyware and so there won’t be any conflicts.
To add: Hope you know that Symantec has already acquired the PCTools - manufacturer of Spyware Doctor.

Just to let you know version 3 of Norton 360 has the built in feature, aptly named One Click Support which gathers a little information on your system and your product and allows you to more simply communicate your issue with support.
Keeping your system up to date for your operating system, security program and other programs can help to reduce the ability of a system to incur security issues.
Should you wish to install 360 version 3 you can do so free of charge as long as you have a current subscription and it can be downloaded from either: http://www.symantec.com/redirects/norton/norton_com/n360s_3/ - if you have the standard edition or
I had no idea about PC Tools. They had more than one program that I had seen in the past that I liked.
Since it is part of the subject may I ask about Ad-Aware from Lavasoft? The non-realtime version (shareware) of course :) I had heard some that said it is bloatware and I have noticed that 360 is picking up more of the type of stuff that Ad-Aware has in the past and just wondered if there were any comments on this product and it being run in a Norton 360 environment.
I had 360v3, ad-aware pro, spy emergency 2009 and malwarebit's anti-malware running on my vista OS all with real time protection they works very well with each others nothing bad to pick on and guard me safe on surfing net without slowing upon booting system startup but ad-aware give the most prompt and i personally feel very annoying, need to do some configuration on it if want lesser prompt. when comes to updating definition ad-aware seems to take much more longer time among all. hope this helps! 4.5 stars for 360v3, ad-aware pro 3.5 stars, spy emergency 4stars, malwarebite's 4stars.
Alright thanks for you opinions. I assume all programs are rated on a 5 star system :)
As Yogesh had posted earlier in this thread, I have had past bad experiences with running more than one real time protection program at any particular time (Left my system in a state that forced a reformat). In this case it was an older Norton product and the Lavasoft program which is why I was wondering if there is any possible conflict with running the Lavasoft's Ad-Aware (shareware) (I don't believe there are any activities going on other than scanning of the hard disk) along with 360 v3.
For the rest of the message I'm not sure if you are a reseller. In any case I am good with the software that I have in place, thank you.
No my friend i am not a reselller or what, i am just a crazy software tester running all sorts of program testing whether they are working fine with each other or i think it can put me in safe hand from viruses or any other bad things that will harm my OS cos i had a very bad experience in the past ...haha so now i am very alert on OS security and also OS performance.
