Had a problem with Epson printer. Went to site and received a pop up message to call support. Number was 844-992-9996. Called and person I spoke to discussed the printer feeding problem I was experiencing. Asked if I wanted to give him access and directed me to site: "support.me" where he asked to ok the prompt. My computer showed me a program in my download folder called "Support-LogMeInRescue" with 2344kb size. Norton said program was ok. Small conversation screen opened and showed me screens claiming my computer has 300+ device connections, rep claimed my computer was heavily infected. I terminated conversation and programs.
When I looked at the info on Norton, Norton states this version is new and only 7 days old.
Anyone have any insights as what steps I should do to protect computer. I examined my Control Panel programs installed and see no new program showing. I have not deleted downloaded exe file - Is there somewhere I can send it at Norton who can validate the file and purpose. Can they make sure that program has not installed any backdoors to my computer system.?
Am looking for a phone number at Norton to call to alert them about this.
