Lately when I try and run a quick scan or a full system scan they will start but will eventually hang and go no further.
I'm running Norton 360 Premier 6.0.
I've reinstalled the product twice, run live update, run different virus scans to see if there was anything on my system that Norton was not picking up but to no avail.
The scans continue to stall.
Tune Ups and live update run with no problem.
Any suggestions?

Hello Wayne,
Welcome to Norton Community Forums!!!
Sorry for the trouble. Please provide the following information:
What are the other different virus scans you have ran?
When exactly or during what stage the scan hangs?
Did it hangs while scanning on a specific folder or file?
Did you try restarting your computer in Safe Mode, and then a full system scan with Norton?
How did you uninstall/reinstall Norton 360 - did you use Norton Removal tool?
Thanks,
HarryP

Hello Harry:
Thank you for the reply:
What are the other different virus scans you have ran?
**Malwarebytes
When exactly or during what stage the scan hangs?
**Few thousand files in.
Did it hangs while scanning on a specific folder or file?
**Two off the top of my head are explorer.exe and I think svchost or something like that
Did you try restarting your computer in Safe Mode, and then a full system scan with Norton?
**Did not try using safemode
How did you uninstall/reinstall Norton 360 - did you use Norton Removal tool?
**used both the Norton fix tool and the removal and install tool.
Just for the fun of it I initiated another quick scan. It started off Initializing now it's pausing. That was like 5 minutes ago.

Please restart your computer in Safe Mode and try a full system scan. If it hangs, make a note of the point at which it hangs, file name or process name would be helpful.
Thanks,

Quick scan is still up and going nowhere.
I have pop up that says this: Auto Protect is processing security risk Bloodhound.MalPE.

Ran a full scan under safemode.
Nothing found.
Tried to run another quick scan not in safemode.
Stopped after 2579 items scanned.
Message at top of frame is: Scanning commonly infected areas and startup files.....................
c:/windows/explorer.exe
Received the Bloodhound threat again.

What is your Operating System & Service Pack?
Are you using complete version of Malwarebytes?
Do you have any other Security programs installed?
Step you can try
- Uninstall Malwarebytes for time being, restart the computer, run a Windows Update to receive latest update patches from Microsoft and run a full system scan.
- If the problem persists, run a scan with windows system file checker(sfc.exe), restart the computer and then run a full system scan.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
HarryP

I reran the full file scan in safemode overnight.
Had the same result.
1 File Being Processed
1 File Remaining
Scan never did fully complete after processing 400K plus items.

There's no joy in Mudville with any of this.
I can't scan using the Windows scan as it asks me for the diskettes which I do not have.
I have all the latest updates for Windows.
Norton Scans still will not run to competion in regular mode or safemode.
So..................................I have no idea what is going on.

Start a new thread with Bloodhound.MalPE in the subject line. Then wait for Quads to help.

Now I'm really stumped.
Having been unable to do much of anything but what was suggested that didn't seem to work anyway.
The scan through my Norton application now works.
Anyone have any ideas what happened?????????????????????????/
