Quick scan is weird after Norton 360 update (v. 24)

Issue abstract: Quick scan is not quick anymore

Hello, everyone!

After updating to a new version, quick scan on Norton 360 takes much more time than it used to. Before, it would take around 3, 4 minutes. Now, it will probably take 1 hour or more. I say probably because I cancelled it when, after more than half an hour, it seemed to get stuck on 55 %… I also noticed that it scans document files and other similar files (that’s it why it takes so long, probably), while in the other version, it only scanned system files and other files considered very important and with higher risk of getting infected.

During this scan, it also detected 2 supposed infected files: a PDF file, which I have in my computer for years, without any issues; and a RTF file that I myself created, so how can it be infected?

So, is there something I can do to make this new quick scan more similar to the old one, or is it simply a bug?

I’m also afraid that this version may have a lot more problems, because during my search on the net, I found many people talking about a multitude of issues.

Thank you.

Have you opted Scan Priority → High?
v24 Scans take longer for me, too.
I have Quick Scan set to Run manually.
Have you run one Full Scan?

I have same issue. Version 22.24 used to take 4-5 minutes to scan 12,000 files. Now latest version takes best part of 30 mins , notification in Inbox mentions now scanning 92,000 files. But! - Scan history reports 264,000 files scanned?. The problem I have found, following a scan, the whole computer, whilst opening apps is taking a lot longer to open them - computer running at a crawl, clears itself after 10-15 minutes when its back to normal
