I was going to say that it might be the Norton Trusted stuff coming into play, but then I saw your version of NIS and I dont' even recognize it.  Especially considering the current NIS beta is 16.0.0.110.

So unless you are using a version that is potentially 6 years old (basing assumption on increasing version number) I dont even know what to tell you.

I actually have NIS 2008 which was downloaded from Norton in March.  I have used NIS or NAV  for years either downloading or buying retail.  Could it be that my version number is being recognized as obsolete somehow?  I have read the thread concerning Quck Scan but the person having problems is running NIS 2007 which it seems should not apply to me.....

Thanks for your response.  I understand that I may be in the wrong forum (Beta) but maybe the more savvy folks are here...

Since August 10th that is happening to me aswell. I use Norton thru my AT@T. It usually scanned approx 6000 files and always found cookies in around 2 minutes. Now it goes up to 9 files at most. No registry files scanned. The full scan scans many files but no longer detects cookies as it used to. Ive noticed that this has happened to a few others online. I suspected it was the sp3 update until i uninstalled and reinstalled the Norton on August 17th, because after installation it asks for a scan or an update. I scanned and it ran perfectly. However, after the updates, it was back to only scanning 8 files in like a few seconds. Now ontop of that, the LiveUpdate gives me a LU1845 error. For the error, i downloaded the update piupdate.exe...did not fix it, then the 1845-reg.bat...did not fix as well. What is going on?

If my memory serves correctly:

NIS 2006=9.0

NIS 2007=10.0

NIS 2008=15.0 (and 15.5)

NIS 2009 (beta)=16.0

The 2008 version of NIS skipped some versions so that its revision number would match NAV and be less confusing.

Moved LU1845 problem to a new thread for better exposure.
