Hello Carolyn. In words that are easily understandable, here is the AI generated information on the issue you are reporting. Hope this helps.
AI Overview
An aswboot.txt file is a log file from an Avast or AVG antivirus scan that runs before the operating system fully loads. It contains the results of a “boot-time scan,” which is a deeper, more thorough scan for malware that runs outside of Windows to avoid detection by any malicious software that might be running.
Key details about the file
**> **
> * Purpose: It logs the outcome of the boot-time scan, detailing any threats found and what actions were taken.
> * Location: The file is typically found in a hidden folder, such as C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\ or C:\ProgramData\AVG\Antivirus\report\.
> * Why it’s important: When you are troubleshooting an issue or suspect a deep infection, this file provides a record of what the antivirus detected and cleaned before Windows started.
> * How to access: You may need to enable viewing hidden files in Windows Explorer to see the ProgramData folder. You can also copy and paste the path into the File Explorer address bar to go directly to the folder.
Note that the reference is to Avast software. Norton utilizes the same based core engine as Avast so if you already had other Avast products installed that is what the reference is about. The folder referenced is NOT a part of my Norton 360 installs on my machines.

I just ran startup scan and this message came up with the path to the ASWboot.txt file.

Thank you for the reply. I had seen the message when startup scan started. However after the reboot when it finished I could not find the path as the file mentioned is hidden by default. I finally started a search from C: and it was finally found. In the interim another member had furnished me with the hidden file info.
