cgoldman,
I agree, that post was very poorly written. Probably because he was so seething mad he couldn't see straight, which is how I feel right now, but am taking time to breathe so that I can get my point made.
Today I discovered while checking my bank balance, that Symantec had taken $52.74 out of my account without my permission, leaving my balance in the negative, no less, and incurring overdraft fees. Not only did I NOT authorize automatic renewal, my receipt from last years renewal specifically states " Symantec will not automatically renew your subscription."
A phone call placed to Symantec left me with an automated voice telling me I had call back time of "between 3pm and 4pm" and, you guessed it, IT NEVER HAPPENED!
On top of everything, my subscription is a full TWO WEEKS from expiring.
Tell me, what do you have to say for yourselves, before I go to the media and the Attorney General with this?????
Hey Norton is auto-renewing itslef nowadays, and calling to say this is inappropriate is insufficient ? the racket happens for all accounts ?? how i kill this hydra once and for all ?? I am superpissed. Not only i have deleted all Symantec product from our entire medical practice, but i still have to deal with their viral behavior of unauthorized billing. THIS IS IT. I want TOTALLY out of that company.

I would personally never buy Symantec Products from its own site, and the same goes for any software or item/good. I brought my 3 pc license of N360 in store for $20. I had only heard negative reviews about Symantec back then, but my other choice was 1 pc 1 yr license of Kaspersky IS 7… so you can imagine.
As for Sundog, I would contact Symatnec Customer Support:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/index.jsp
I am sure that they will clarify and resolve this issue for you.
I am intrigued by your post. I know scripts are sometimes impossible to read from doctors but I am surprised that you write questions which contain no question. It is unclear to me as to whether you called to say that auto renewing is inappropriate or whether you wish your reader to understand that Norton is "calling to say this is inappropriate". Similarly "the racket happens for all accounts?" is not a question. I suspect that the issue here is that your subscription is or was coming to end of life and the system therefore reminds you and prompts you to renew. I cannot imagine that Norton is actualy auto renewing itself as this would require your credit card authority.
I am not quite sure what assistance you seek from the forum but suggest that if there is unauthorised billing you could take this up with Symantec customer services or your credit card company.
