Received phone call re.my information exposed, but nothing on my account. Scam?

Received phone call re.my information exposed, but no messages on my account. Can I assume it is a scam call?

Who did they say they were? If Norton, Definitely a scam. Norton does not phone subscribers if they note your information is exposed.

Even if not Norton, anyone trying to get you to update information by saying you are at risk is probably a scammer. Always get the name of the company that is calling and look them up independently from the phone call to get their contact information so you can call them to ensure the request is legit. Never call back any number or use any email address they give you during the scam call.

The phone call was just a call telling me about a possible fraudulent transactions with Bank of America AACA and did not ask for any information. I went into my Norton account and found the message about the possible scam. After that I sent an email to security@bankofamerica.com which I now don’t think is a legitimate BOA email after looking for BOA security on line. I don’t think there is a Bank of America AACA either after doing an internet search.
I sent back a copy of the email from Norton and a copy of Norton’s message from my account which only showed my first name. As far as I can tell the only thing they might have gained is my emall address which I’m pretty sure they could get anyway. I’m pretty sure they already knew my name and my town and state which is available on a number of data sites. My credit accounts are frozen on all 3 credit sites, so hopefully I didn’t do myself any harm. We’ll have to wait and see. I could always change my email address, but that would be a major hassle.

Have you any dealings with Bank of America? If not, then it is definitely a scam. I hope you did not put any personal information in the email you sent.

Stopped using BOA many years ago. The only thing I can think that I compromised is my email address. I shared my name which they already had, city and state only, which is posted on most, or all, the data sites. Other than that there was no other personal information. Tomorrow I am going to BOA and ask about the email address I used to reply.to. If not BOA’s I will call the state AG’s office and file a complaint and offer up the email address which I replied to. Like I said I had previously frozen my accounts in all 3 credit bureaus. Hoping for the best. You have to admit, as careful as you think you are, these guys are good at what they do.
Thank you for your replies,
