Yes, my account is working fine but my husband’s is not. The reason I thought it was a Norton issue is that it started happenening immediately following a Norton update. The problem that was happening with IE is that 1) he had to Run as Administrator 2) A script error kept coming up, it just said something like “script error, do you want to continue loading this page?” This morning I found a “Work-Around” but would like to find the real problem. The work-around was to turn OFF User Account Control. With it off, everything runs fine for him. Of course our system is not as safe with it turned OFF. Thanks.

My husband and I are both set up as Administrators on our Vista based computer. My user name is working fine but after the last Norton update (a few weeks ago) some odd things happened with his user. Microsoft was unable to help. What has happened is:
1. Internet explorer only works correctly if he selects “run as administrator”, if he does not do this, an unlimited number of error messages pile up.
2. Windows sidebar does not work
3. He can not open several programs.
Another interesting tidbit—today he installed the new NIS update and inbetween the time that the PC uninstalled the old one and installed the new one, the above problems went away.
Any suggestions what we should check?
Hi CGmomofthree,
From your comments it appears that your account is working fine, but your husband's isn't. Is that accurate?
Please send the following information -
Log into the computer using your husband's profile
Click on Start -> Run, type 'regedit' without the quotes and hit OK
In the application which opens, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
When you select the 'Run' key, you'll see some values in the right hand side pane. Either take a screenshot of the values and paste them here or type them into the box.
Also, please describe some of the error messages which pile up? Are they Adware related or Windows errors? Its possible some misleading application is causing all these errors. Please post some screenshots.
Thanks
