Recover a product key

A friend's PC has Windows 7 and a valid Norton 360 2.5.0.5 subscription. It looks like there have been no updates to it since 2017. It has been auto renewing since 2013.  I'm setting up a Windows 11 PC for them. They have no online account and the original disks and key are missing. They do have a Customer Account ID. What can I do to get Norton 360 on the new PC and set up an online account for them? Is this a job for Norton themselves?

Good to hear you found a solution. Thanks for posting back.

Thanks for your response. I set up a new account for her after finding a copy of the key which the original install had saved to the hard drive and then added the key however there was an error indicating it was associated with another account. So I contacted Norton and with the personal details I had they were able to move the key to the new account so everything is good.

If they have been auto renewing the subscription, they have to have a Norton Account. They can sign into that account and find the product key they are using. The problem is that that older version will probably not install on Win 11. If they no longer need the Win 7 device, they should contact Norton Support and ask that the subscription be changed to a current product.   www.norton.com/contactcs   If using the chat function, as soon as you can enter any information, enter "agent please". That will get you out of the chat bot and connected to a human.

Thanks for your response however eve though the product is outdated they have been paying the auto renewal every year since 2013 and when I check the subscription status in the application it says there is still over 150 days remaining so I'm not sure they need to purchase another product.

Unless that subscription key was never used, it is only good for a one year period. It also sounds like the older 360 product that was replaced many years ago now. So it would no longer be valid.

The only thing that you can do now is purchase a new subscription, either directly from Norton or from a reputable retailer. Then you will need to set up a Norton Account for your friend. Have them with you so they can choose their password, or use a temporary password and tell them to change it when they get the computer.
