Recovery CD ISO image

Loaded the trial version of Ghost 15.0, installed it and made a complete system disk backup. So far so good! Now I want to see if it restores but it says I need a System Recovery CD. Lots of tips in the support section about how to burn the iso image to a cd, which I already know, but nowhere can  I find where I can get the iso image to burn. Help please since I need this to make sure the product is worth buying.

Hi jreidu,

Welcome to Norton Community!!

To get the Recovery Disk ISO image, you need to purchase Norton Ghost. It's not available with the trial version. If you are not satisfied with the product, you can return the product and get full refund within 60 days from the purchase.

Check the user manual in there you can find infos about how to create a recovery disk.

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/ghost/15/manuals/ngh_15_user_guide.pdf

If a Recovery Disk is not available in the trial download this means that the download is a complete waste of time since the most essential part of the trial - restoration- cannot be tested. I had a major restoration problem with a previous version which is why I wanted to try it out.

HI Reid,

I understand where you are coming from but the problem is this. If Symantec provided the ISO in the trial version then some people could get the full product for free even after the trial period expired.

Please understand that if you purchase Ghost and you are not satisfied, you can return it within 60 days for a FULL, no questions asked refund. I think this should cover any concerns you might have.

You can see Symantec's return policy here.

Hope this helps.

I understand Symantec's position but the tricky part of complete sytem backup is restoration so dowloading a trial that does not allow this to be tested is meaningless. This then begs the question. Why offer a 30 trial download if a proper trial cannot be done? You would save people lots of time if this was made clear up front.

If I buy a copy of the software by downloading do I get the recovery CD? In this case does the money back offer still apply?

Thanks for your help

Hi Reid,

Yes, you can get a refund when you download the software. When you purchase online through Symantec you get a download link to both the Ghost installer and an ISO image. This ISO image is what is used to create the CD known as the Symantec Recovery Disk or SRD.

You will need an ISO aware utility to burn the ISO to CD. If you do not have one already I would suggest something like ImgBurn which you can find here.

Hi Reid,

I was wondering how this was going?

Thanks
