Recovery point stuck at 94%

When Norton Ghost 14.0 (14.0.4.30167) is creating a recovery point, it gets stuck at 94% for some reason.

What causes the "High Priority Warning: Result (0xece30066 33 NOTIFY_ERROR_EVENTLOG_OPEN_FAILED Args [0];)"

I have been having a very similar problem for months but under slightly different circumstances.

 

I was using Ghost 14 but switched to Save & Restore 2 as the latter seems to be more stable.  All updates were applied to S & R 2.

 

I can sucessfully create a base point (there are two files - one is the actual backup and the second is a small volume history file)..  Both files are created successfully.

 

However,  each time I try to run the incremental back up  the  data portion is created but then S &R hangs at 95% trying to update the volume history file.  This file never does get updated.  There is nothing in the S &R event log to indicate what is going on.

 

My backup disk is on another computer on my network.

Sorry for the delayed response to your post.

 

I'm not a Ghost expert, but from the knowledge that I've gained in moderating this forum, I can suggest something. Perform Checkdisk to scan and fix the disk errors. Also perform disk de-fragmentation. To run checkdisk, use the following command on command prompt:

chkdsk /f/r.

 

If your recovery point still gets stuck at 94%, kindly report back to us. I'm just trying to help you out with some basic stuffs before someone can respond and provide other work arounds to get this one fixed.

Same thing happens to me…check out my thread.  chkdsk f/r did nothing, neither did defraging…Its smeas to be a problem of the software and support has been no help…

More Info:

The last 6 % (94 - 100%) of the process is dedicated to the creation of the sv2i file.

The recovery file, C_Drive.v2i has been already created at the 94 % time.

What is the process doing at this point that would lock up?

I'm thinking it's an issue with the Windows VSS function.

I have a similar problem but it stops at anywhere over 90.00%
