I have read through the forum and done what I can so here goes - I had spybot and AVG 7.5 loaded - long story short computer was running suspiciously slow and getting strange random pop ups and links - so I tried to update these and ran into issues, tried the uninstall/reinstall route no dice. Both apparently live in undisclosed locations on my computer . . . somewhere.
Enough with the free programs, bring on the Norton. Installed, ran - first time Sunday got the Trojan.pidief.E - quarantined along with a bunch of tracking cookies. Ran ok Monday. This morning, Tuesday - ran ok for a bit, then hiccups, slow downs and redirecting links again. Ran Norton again (installed updater, ran full scan in safe mode, oh yeah and undid the auto restore just like it told me). This time we get Packed.generic269 plus some more tracking cookies.
What is going on? Started searching the forums and found this subject that was very familiar to mine (along with other postings that Norton wont help you if your computer is already infected, or if you had been running other virus software. Um. Ok. Thought that was why Norton was the best and expensive??). So I did the Malwarebytes thing, they found rogue.winantivirus AND trojan.agent. Quarantined those. Did the HiJack thing - log is attached.
What else - XPSP3. For the love of god, can someone please tell me what is going on? Thanks.
