Here's an interesting one for you - I hope.
Norton removed two major threats to my system.
Roboot has just been removed & I'm investigating that.
RegCleanPro was remloved in August and I missed it in the report at that time.
But is it really a threat?
Someone else raised it here: https://community.norton.com/forums/regclean-pro
So I googled - or rather norton'd. (I don't think that will catch on as googled has done.) Most of the hits says it's a nasty, including Norton: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2014-070111-2856-99
I particularly like the review in Ask that labels it 'scareware' - http://www.ask.com/technology/regclean-pro-license-key-1bdb98a6497f5559?o=2802&qsrc=999&ad=doubleDown&an=apn&ap=ask.com
But this is what makes me PC-mentallydeficient - I searched my laptop for reg pro clean and here's a snip of what it told me
It's part of Microsoft's Windows Registry Console Tool and NIS has just removed it! What effect will that have? Can I reinstate it? Should I reinstate it? Or as I once said to Yank should I throw my laptop out and go caveman?
Talking of throwing, can Norton throw any light on this please and give expert advice on what needs to be done? Thanks.
PS Thinking of you guys over t'other side of the pond - the weather looks awful. No doubt we'll get the tail-end next week.
