Upon trying to reinstall norton 360 5.0 I get a message saying a previous install/uninstall has been detected and a restart is required. I have tried restarting multiple times and it did not solve the problem. I then tried to remove all traces or norton using the removal tool and then deleting leftover registry keys and norton files. This however didn't work either and I still recieve the same message when trying to reninstall. Can someone please provide any suggestions?

please try to run the Norton Removal Tool, and than the latest isntaller:
1. Download latest Norton 360 installer (only the edition you bought):
- www.norton.com/n360s_5 Standard with 2GB Online Storage
- www.norton.com/n360p_5 Premier with 25GB Online Storage
- www.norton.com/n360sne_5 Standard Netbook Edition with 2GB Online Storage
- www.norton.com/n360pne_5 Premier Netbook Edition with 25GB Online Storage
- for other languages please go to the Norton Update Center and select manual product selectoion + change the language on the site's top: www.norton.com/nuc
2. Download Norton Removal Tool: www.norton.com/nrt
3. Disconnect from internet
4. Run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot (repeat it 2-3 times)
5. Install Norton 360 version 5 with the previously downloaded installer
6. Reconnect to the internet
7. Activate Norton 360 version 5
9. Run Live Update until you get no new updates

Are you getting the ' need a restart message ' from Norton Download Manager?
If yes press win key + r -> type msconfig -> startup -> sexrch for the entry Norton Download Manager -> Remove the check mark next to it.
