So, NIS keeps finding the same risks over and over again, in an area that is now excluded from real-time protection and scans (Symantec support ran a full system scan before I had a chance to configure the exclusions whilst remoted into my system).
The results report ‘Remove Failed’ and only offers the options ‘Rescan’ and ‘Get Help’ (which helpfully links to a ‘Not Found’ page).
How do I remove these notifications?
Same for me - i still miss the Option to be asked if i trust that the File is absolutely OK!
Hi there
Newbie Tom here. I have the same problem with a Trojan.Patchep detection which apparently is sitting in system restore. NIS states that remove has failed and the action required screen states that the risk is high, but if you check the link to the virus detail, Symantic security response states that the risk is very low. I've tried the suggested solution about 5 times - turn off system restore, live update symantic and run a full systems scan to no avail.
So guess what - I contacted Syematic chat line, and immediatly regretted it. I'm currently sitting at my pc awaiting a response after 5 chat sessions over 9 hours getting increasingly irritated by the script-driven analysts that keep on asking the same questions, then putting me onb hold whilst they transfer me to an analyst. And I've been told that I have to pay for this service. Unfortunately I cannot charge Symantic for my time.
I'm not impressed with this so-called customer service. If and when I get a solution to this I'm
Hi seanys
1. Have you tried running the Norton full system scan in Safe Mode?
2. Have you tried manually removing the infected file from the location given by NIS?
I would try these, but if this fails you may try running a virus removal tool, such as THIS, to get rid of the infection.
Let us know how you go, thanks.
