Hello, could you tell me how to remove startup scanning on Norton 360 for windows. Thanks
It appears you can’t. Did have issue couple of weeks ago, on boot it was running start-up scanning during boot, Press escape to abort. In settings, disabled all scans options when rebooting/restarting, issue disappeared. This morning, first boot still OK, second boot, was scanning on boot again, pressed escape & aborted. Checked settings, still all off.as before so apparently not recognising settings. Opening Start-Up scans from Scans brings up different window from before, now gives option to run or cancel next boot, was not there before. If I press Cancel, does not appear to run at next boot & does NOT delay boot. Done a Repair, still same problem unless pressing cancel prior to shutting down. Had similar episode couple of weeks ago with Software Updater - Auto Updater had run & updated Firefox, once again, all settings had not changed & still Auto-update off. In that instance updated version number from 24.9.6452.995 to 24.9.6452.1052 same day. After running repair, version still 24.9.6452.1052. Seems all very unstable. Various settings you eventually find, next time you look they have disappeared.
Thanks for sharing. I come to the same conclusion. The pre-boot scan cannot be canceled via “cancel scan” in the Boot Scan window. I am using version 24.10.9535.880.
Hello @C_CHARBONNIER
Startup Scan on my v24.10.9535 requires invoking Set Up as per @mgirons pic [here]
Are you reporting Cancel scan does not work?
Are you reporting: Press Esc to bypass scanning does not work?

Note: when I had a Restart needed event.
Note: I did not Press Esc to bypass scanning
I called support. The technician disabled the boot scan. I can’t say how he did it…
I have the impression that he clicked Cancel and not Continue after clicking Cancel boot scan. To be verified…
Die Norton AvLaunch componente bleibt auch im Autostart. 7 Norton Dienste sind gestartet. Früher waren es 2. Es sind Komponenten gestartet, die man deaktiviert hat. Sorry Symantec.

Screen dump for me identical to yours except for Smart Scan. Had issue a week or two ago, then it went away till 2nd boot today - just pressing cancel & then next confirmation prevents it running @ restart & boot. After Norton self installed 30th Sept, had to remove & install manually from downloaded setup file that solved the issues with initial install, then had issues like this where settings are over ruled by Norton even though actual settings have not been changed from my original settings & remain so. Seems to have a life of its own. EDIT current version 24.10.9535 (build 24.10.9535.880)
Yeah…Smart Scan → View Results calls adverts.
Oh okay…so, if I’m following scenario. Cancel scan does work.

Hello @mgirons
here’s another Preset scans pic
Oh okay. I’ll try Cancel scan…again. I thought Cancel scan worked…maybe, I’m not remembering.
Thanks
Just I don’t want it to run - judging by all numerous threads being posted about V24.xx, more than a good chance computer will not work after Norton interference.
V24.xx seems a complete disaster.
