When you find out the answer to this, there are a couple of thousand of us eager to hear it.  :smileyvery-happy:

What is your NSW version?

As I understand, you have also NIS 2009 installed?

It is the NSW Basic and it’s dated 2006.

There is no way to remove Norton Protection Center’s icon, but some people were able to disable it through Windows Services, but I can’t remember what is the exact name of this service. Check Windows Services for and disable it from there, if you find the right service.

Actually, it’s not the icon that’s a problem for me.  The problem is the false warning that I have no protection, the result of NSW not yet being integrated with NIS2009.  What I want is a want to turn off the alerts in NSW.  What does a customer do about these false alerts if he has NSW and another security program such as McAfee?

I guess you have to upgrade to the latest NSW version as this one is probably not supported already, and thats why it's not compatible with the latest security software.

Try the following.

- Click Start --> Run.

- Type msconfig.

- Under Services tab, locate and uncheck "Norton Protection Center".

- Restart the computer.

NOTE: It will remove the Norton Protection Center (NPC) icon from the tray, but the services will be disabled.
