RescueMeLogin is very sophisticated scam about a trojan horse

My puter popped up a full white screen with text that said a virus had been detected on it, and a voice started a spiel about needing to call the 1-866-217-8835 number shown. Text and voice said my puter had been locked up for safety, and I had to call the number to get it unlocked. I stupidly called it, and spent a long time on the phone with a guy who had a barely intelligible Indian accent, claimed when pressed that their name was "Virus Eraser.....something or other" and they were "authorized Microsoft resellers". He had me type in some stuff, and got remote control of my puter. Very sophisticated pages came up, looked absolutely genuine. He explained what a Trojan horse is, and made a Wikipedia page appear for "Trojan horse". He even did a rough circling in red of certain parts of it. Then came the pitch, he could remotely fix it immediately if I purchased a service: 1 year for $99.99, 5 years for $199.99, lifetime for $299.99. Told him there's no way I'd put my credit card number out there online, he said "No, no, I'd never ask you to do that. There's got to be a Walgreens or WalMart near you, just go there and buy ITunes cards in the right amount. Don't turn the puter off, just type into the text box that you're back, and we'll fix it. Couldn't get my puter working again, so just powered it down. It worked when restarted. Got Norton installed afterwards, ran full 1 hr. 40 min. scan, it detected and resolved a "high risk" Trojan horse. Thank you Norton!
