Reset to factory settings. Now no Norton security already bought. Now what?

Had to repair to factory settings d/t virus. Now I don’t have Norton and at the Norton site it states I have to purchase all over again. How do I get what I paid for already back on this computer?

When you reset to factory conditions the PC goes back to how it was sent out from the factory. It may have a trial installation of a security application, often Norton but not always. These typically run for 3 - 6 months.

Can you first of all check what shows as installed since before installing Norton it is essential to uninstall and then clean up with a special tool, especially if it is not a Norton product.

What are you using to protect yourself at present?

Please let us know about this and then we can advise you.

Please also tell us which Norton product you had installed before the Restore to Factory Condition -- Norton ANtiVirus, Norotn Internet Security or Norton 360 and if the latter whether Standard or Premium.  Did you buy it from Norton Online or from a store or .....

Also what version of Windows is on your computer -- Windows 7 ?

Don't worry about having to buy again; you will not have to.

Once we have sorted out the cleanup all you will need to do  is to go to the MyNortonAccount created when you installed and activated the copy of Norton you purchased and click on the Download button and it will download and reinstall an activated copy of the current download of your Norton product. If this account does tell you that you have no activations available don't worry -- we can give you a link to Norton OnLine Support via the CHAT route which uses the keyboard of your computer and they can liberate the activation for re-use ......

But to help you with this we need the information .....
