Hi, I have a folder on an external hard drive (F drive) called N360_BACKUP that is about 54Gb in size. I take it to be a backup I did a few years ago and wish to restore some data from it. I went into my Norton 360 initial screen and clicked on Restore Files. I then viewed all backup sets in the Restore Source screen but could not appear to find one of that size or anything near it. It does list a default set on F drive that is only 4Gb in size. I don't think this contains all the files I backed up (i.e. that I think are in the 54Gb folder). How do I locate the "correct" backup from which to restore? Thanks heaps.
Try putting copies of the portable restore files arestore.exe and arestore.loc on the root of the external drive.
(Not inside any folders, just on the main part of the drive).
Then run arestore.exe and see if it picks up all the backups.
Best of luck,
Dave
Hi Dave,
Thanks very much for this, and the speedy reply. I did as you said and it certainly worked in the sense that it found a 4.1Gb backup on the external drive. I'm not sure why the actual folder on the external drive that I believe contains a larger backup (i.e. of more data than what I saw in the 4.1Gb file) is 54Gb in size. I wonder whether may I might post a slightly different subject ehading alluding to this, but if you have any useful info that would be great!
Cheers,
Richard
