I have an MSI Codex R2 with an i7-14700F with an RTX 4060 running Windows 11 Insider Preview and Norton Premium for 20 Devices. I’m trying to restore about 25.1GB of data from my Norton Cloud Backup. I can get to the backup sets just fine and can restore individual files one at a time but any other way, the restore process fails. I’ve tried restoring the entire 25.1GB and it fails. I’ve tried restoring between 10 and 1 folders at a time, and it fails. I’ve tried restoring two images at a time, and it fails. A couple of times, Norton restored the file structure but not the files. I’ve tried every possible variation of restoring the files and it either works for a few minutes and I get a message that the restore failed or it works for two seconds and I get a message “Success!” but when I look in the designated restore folder, nothing is there. I’m thinking of uninstalling/reinstalling Norton to see if that does anything but I was hoping first to see if some brilliant person might have a solution. Thanks for any suggestions!
are you trying Restore from https://my.norton.com/extspa/backup
are you trying Restore from v22 user interface?
are you trying Restore from v22 Norton Backup Drive?
are you trying Restore from v24 user interface?
regarding v22 user interface [here] [here]
regarding v22 Norton Backup Drive [here]
I’m trying to restore from the mess that is the v24.10.9535. When I go to the my.norton.om restore, I can only view the files, not anything else. I also disabled and completely exited my other backup/sync programs thinking maybe one of them was locking the drive to perform a backup/sync. I’m not running Bitlocker either.
Hello @NotintheMatrix
Okay…when I try Restore from the mess that is v24.10.9535

Note: I also see Restore from v24 (created desktop folder)
When I drill down. I do see my folders\files. I’ve no way to verify restored.
Documents on my machine reports 14 items
restore Documents reports 13 items
D: on my machine reports 44 items
restore D: reports 40 items
Documents on my machine subfolder Name1 has 16 items
restore Documents subfolder Name1 has 12 items
Documents on my machine subfolder Name2 has 19 items
restore Documents subfolder Name2 has 16 items
maybe, that’s why Restore has failed

How did you call Restore for between 10 and 1 folders at a time?
How did you call Restore for two images?
Note: I see these Restore options

- v24 Get started using Norton Cloud Backup [here]
In the interface when you go into a backup set, there is a folder icon next to the restore button. I clicked on the folder icon and at first I selected the top folder C Drive. When that failed to restore, I went further into to the folder structure and selected the folder Pictures. When that failed to restore, I went into the a Pictures folder and selected 3 folders for various trips that I took. When that failed to restore, I selected a single folder for a trip I took. When the single folder failed to restore, I went into another folder and selected 5 individual files. When that failed to restore, I went into that same folder and selected a single file. That restored. I have 25.1GB backed up that I’m trying to restore. If I have to download reach file individually, I’ll get it done on my 143rd birthday.
Hello @NotintheMatrix
D’oh! I had not realized folder was actionable. Thanks!
Geez…my Restore looks decent by comparison.
My Backups reports Sync “a day ago”

Hello @NotintheMatrix
Had you tried creating Restore folder and Restore to same.
Or, are you wanting to Restore to original location?
Security History reports:
Cloud Backup partially backed up your files → Partial
Security History → Advanced details reports:
7 files failed to back up = D:\System Volume information\FVE2.{ }
Hello @NotintheMatrix
My 7 files failed are always D:\System Volume information\FVE2.{ }
Are your failed always the same files failed?
I’ll try Exclude from Backup → D:\System Volume information\ and see what’s what.
Maybe, FVE2.{ } is corrupt restore point?
System Volume Information is used by Windows System Restore to store information and restore points, it is a system-level folder.
Note: \System Volume Information\ is hidden protected system folder.
