Restoring a Backup'ed file - How?

I have been using the current version of Norton Ghost Backup and finally had a need to restore a file (not recovery-mode and all that other stuff - just a file).  I went to Restore a File in Ghost Backup and could not even get it to locate the file?  I put the full link in after awhile and still said "coud not locate files with the name".  So, what do I have to do in Ghost to restore a single file??

Someone, I would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

In Norton Ghost, I selected "One Time Backup", went thru the Backup Wizard as follows:

Selected the C drive

Under Related Drives - had ":All related...." checked

Selected the Backup location

Standard Compression

And ran the backup.  What did I do wrong that is not allowing me to restore individual files from the backup.

How do I tell it File and Folder Backup vs. Partition Image?  I assume I should be using File and Folder backup?

Thanks for any insights.

If you used a "One Time Backup" that will backup the complete PC including all the folders and apps.

When you restore the backup from the destination drive all your folders will be in place.

When I run "OTB" I never select "Files and Folders" and in my opion users shouldn't use it.

The "OTB" or full computer backup does it all.

Well, since the support and development for Ghost has been discontinued, I think I will look around for other backup options.

Thanks for the input and if you have ideas on other backup option, please advise!

It sounds like you did a partition image. You should be able to browse to where your backups are stored and either double click the v2i file to open it witth Recovery Point Browser or right click it and mount as a drive letter. Then you can get access to the file(s) you wish to recover.

Good Luck!

Thanks - got it - double clicking on the backup file got me where I needed to be to restore a backuped up file.

Thanks again
