I think the problem is that no one has sufficient information to help you with this.
What kind of a router are you using? Is Norton actually blocking anything? Check in History>Firewall and Network connections, and in Firewall activities. Is your router visible in the network map?
Is the router configured properly via the ISP. Sometimes there is a limit on the number of machines that can be added to your specific plan, and you may have to upgrade to allow another machine.
There are too many questions unanswered.
Default router config address is 192.168.1.254 . Try that first.
Im using a Linksys WRT54G Router, it is visible on the network map, 1 user on the router. ISP allows up to 4 users at once.
Thanks in advance
PS --> the default gateway is 192.168.1.1 on linksys routers.
Hello buchner79,
If you are attempting to access the router configuration utility, first try turning off the pop-up blocker in your browser.
I don't understand "i need to open ports via the router, because firewall isnt working". Do you feel the NIS firewall is not working?
Please provide more detailed information as to the exact problem you are having, so that we can assist you.
Thanks!

I don't know much about networking but I have a Linksys WRT54G on my LAN going on to a BrightHouose modem and the cable service to the internet.
I'm using NIS 2010 and I don't see anything specific to the router on my network map and I've looked on my XP Pro Desktop and on my WIN 7 HP 32 desktop that use the LAN. They show each other but nothing identified as a router ....
Yet you say you do. Anything specific you did to show it? (I presume you mean it is there as a named device -- did you manually add it using the Edit function? My two desktops show 192.168.1.100 and .101 as the devices
As huwyngr states, the router should not be visible in the Norton Network Security Map. It is also very unlikely that this is a Norton issue. Try resetting the router by pushing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds (this will revert all settings to factory defaults). Then access the router through your browser leaving the user name blank and entering "admin" as the password (be sure to reset to a different password after you have gotten access to the router set-up page). If you continue to have trouble accessing the router after resetting consult the following Linksys article on the subject:
