RunDll error

I recently ran a Norton 360 tool that repaired stuff in my root directory.  I can’t remember the exact name of the Norton program or the name it used for the root directory.  BUT, ever since then I get a monolog message from RunDLL saying:

There was a problem starting

C:\Users\CHARLE~1\AppData\Local\PLAYTO~1\Updater.dll

The specified module could not be found.

Does anyone have any idea what this means and how to fix it?

Thanks,

PS.  I read through the RunDll threads but understand anything.  Please explain in non-technical English.  Thanks.

Hi ChuckSchelberg

Was the Norton programme called Norton power eraser?

What version of windows do have on the computer?

I know what it is,  I have only dealt with one other system with it on this forum.

Norton is correct really when I think of it in taking the file.  It jsut has not removed the rest of it.

Quads

Hi, Chuck,

Welcome to our forum. Quads is our resident ace at removing deeply entrenched malware--so from his reply I gather that what you are seeing is the residual trace of a relatively rare nasty that Norton has successfully removed. What's been left behind, it would seem, is a call to a component of the malware that is no longer present--meaning that it can do no harm.

It is  possible to remove that trace...but what it would take for you to do that is pretty technical, and involves some risk of doing actual damage--without much gain beyond the cosmetic disappearance of that error message, since the malware itself is gone.

If I'm mis- or overinterpreting Quads' verdict, hopefully he'll jump back in and correct me!
