Hello Norton Community,
I am considering a trial of Safari on my laptop and would like some feedback from any users before I begin. I must note that I am quite happy with Firefox with the occasional use of IE9, so would only be trialing out of curiosity. I realize Phishing Protection is not offered by Norton for Safari at this time, so no Identity Safe. I have also read that Safari does not have an uninstall component, so I will have to uninstall via the Control Panel method. Is there anything else I should know before I begin?
Thanking you in advance, Dave.

Hi Dave
Good things in Safari:
It's Flippin’ Fast-Apple's Nitro Engine
Frequently used sites option
Search history with the cover flow interface like in Itunes
Easy way to zoom in/out with click of a button
Support for HTML5
Improved address bar
Since the last version of Safari there have been 48 new security patches
New reader mode which allows the user to view articles in an easy to read ad free format
Bad things
Reported crashing problems
Can be slower to load than other browsers
Late response from Address bar above tabs
mouse-over URL display not there
If you Proxy to connect to Internet you end up getting incomplete pages-have to refresh once again to get them back
After Installing Java Pages not loading Properly
Proofs: 1 2 3
Most of the Good things in safari can be felt in IE9 itself...
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the rapid replies.
Great feedback - It seems Safari has some good points and maybe some bad. Subash, I read your links and although they referred to an old version, I think your point is still valid. Ed, IE9 is my default browser for downloads and to avoid Windows update and time synchronization issues, but I use FF more often for general browsing (Just my personal choice). I am just after a bit of a change.
I think I will give it a whirl. I don't know about REVO, so if the time comes, I may come-a-knockin.
I have given Chrome a go a few times and although I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, I am just not comfortable with it. But then, that could be just me
I will keep this thread alive so anyone else can add their opinion.
Thanks, Dave.
Hi
It depends on the user as always. And little more info Chrome is the most secure browser.

Hmmm, OK. I have not downloaded Safari just yet. It would be great to have a little more feedback from any users.
Thanks, Dave.
Hi Krusty13:
Look, Matey! This should help make up your mind. I personally like IE 9...
Atomic_Blast :)

Hi A_B, Thanks for your input. I have seen this graph here before. Market share isn't exactly a deciding factor for me. JMO
Cheers, Dave.
OK, So here is what happened. - I downloaded Safari and was a little surprised how long this took. Out of the box it seemed like it had too many tentacles all through my system. Bottom line, I just did not like it.
Well, when I went to remove Safari from my system I began to realize just how deep it had sank its hooks.
Bottom line - If your happy with your current browser, stick with it. I still do not like Chrome, (I am sure it's just me). For me, I like Firefox and will stick with it .
Thanks to those that replied.
My $0.02.
Dave.
