Issue abstract:
Safe web green check marks missing in google.com
Detailed description:
For many years Safe Web is showing green/orange/red check mark annotations next to search results in google.com. Each individual search result in the long list of search results is marked with a check mark. For a while, these check marks next to the search results are gone. Can you help me to get the check marks back, in explicitly google.com?
Product & version number:
Safe web 3.24.0.1
OS details:
Windows 11 Home, up to date
What is the error message you are seeing?
No error, green check marks are missing in search results on google.com
Protect your searches with Norton Safe Search is notice for Norton Safe Web users that the Norton Safe Web extension will stop providing the ratings to all search engines except for Norton Safe Search.
To continue seeing site ratings, Norton Safe Web users will need to install the Norton Safe Search extension.
I understand Norton will no longer provide the Green Check Marks on the results from using the Google Search Engine.
Can some explain why I am still seeing the Green Check Marks when using the Google Search Engine, while another neighbor no longer see the Green Check Marks when using the Google Search Engine?
The one neighbor is using Program Version 24.12.9725 (build 24.12…9725.903) is not seeing the Green Check Marks, while another neighbor who is running the same version (903) is still seeing the Green Check Marks. I am running Program Version 24.12.9725 (build 24.12…9725.902), so I thought that might be the reason why I’m seeing the Green Check Marks and my neighboor is not.
I’m confused as to what is happening with these Green Check Marks while using Google Search Engine.
Here is my computer…
Norton Home Page v3.23.0.14
Norton Password Manager v8.2.2.529
Norton Safe Search v3.23.0.20
Norton Safe Search Enhanced v3.20.0.13 (turned off)
Chrome Browser v131.0.6778.265
Green check marks on both Norton Search Engine & Google Search Engine.
Here is the other computer…
Norton Home Page v3.23.0.14
Norton Password Manager v8.2.2.529
Norton Safe Search v3.23.0.20
Norton Safe Search Enhanced (not installed on this computer)
Chrome Browser v132.0.6834.111
Green check marks on both Norton Search Engine & Google Search Engine.
I need to reach out to my neighbor who is not seeing the Green Check Marks when using the Google Search Engine to see what version of Extensions she is using. I will get back to you when I find out.
Here is the information pertaining to my neighbor who is not seeing the Green Check Marks when using Google Seatch Engine…
Norton Home Page v3.23.0.14
Norton Password Manager v8.2.2.529
Norton Safe Search v3.23.0.20
Norton Safe Web v3.23.0.21
Norton Safe Search Enhanced (not installed on this computer)
Chrome Browser v132.0.6834.111
I forgot to include Norton Safe Web for “my” computer - v3.22.0.23
Just been reading this thread as my green check marks stopped a long time ago too! Just tested again doing a Google search, after updating the extention to version number v3.24.0.1 and still no joy. Forgot to add I am on Programme version V.24.12.9725, build v.903
Hmm…so you’re seeing Safe Web search annotations with Google search results…and we’re not seeing Safe Web search annotations with Google search results.
Do you run other extensions?
Do you run Chrome Sync?
as test: Chrome with four Norton extensions enabled
Google search
Not sure I understand your comment “so you’re seeing Safe Web search annotations with Google search results…and we’re not seeing Safe Web search annotations with Google search results”.
I’m seeing Green Check Marks on both Norton and Google Search engines. It is my neighbor who is not seeing the Green Check Marks when using Goolge Serach Engine.
I do run Chrome Sync between my Desktop computer and my Laptop computer.
I do run other Extensions on my computer…
- AdBlock
- Adobe Acrobat
- Google’s Application for Drive (I do use Google Drive)
- Chrome Remote Desktop (Whicj I do not use)
- Cisco Webex Extension (Not currently using)
- Google Docs Offline (Not surrently using)
Are you questioning why I am still seeing the Green Check Marks when using Google Search Engine?
@Parryjm is seeing Safe Web search annotations with Google search results…and we (me & your neighbor) are not seeing Safe Web search annotations with Google search results.
Please post supporting screenshot.
No, why should I question you. I believe you. Please believe me. I’m not seeing Safe Web search annotations with Google search results.
It’s not that I do not believe you. I’m just trying to understand the issue.
I saw on a post that Norton would no longer support Green Check Marks on other Search Engines (e.g. Google), so that tells me I and 3 other people who has Norton installed should not being seeing these Green Check Marks when using Google Search Engine. Would I be correct?
Please post supporting screenshot…showing Norton Safe Web search annotations with Google search results…on Chrome.
Hopefully, when Community sees what you see…someone will know/understand.
Are you running Chrome Sync?
Is your AdBlock = AdBlock Plus?
Is your Adobe Acrobat = Adobe reader?
Below is the details assocaited with the AdBlock Extension I have installed on my Desktop and Laptop computers…
Description: Block ads on YouTube and your favorite sites for free
Version: 6.14.1
Size: 259 MB
Permissions: Read & change all your data on all websites & Display notifications.
I assume I am running the version of AdBlock for Chrome even though the Extension name does not say “AdBlock for Chrome”.
nortonsafe.search.ask.com/web may not be Norton Safe Search extension run on Chrome nortonsafe.search.ask.com/web may be Norton Safe Search webpage called on Chrome
I’m just trying to understand why my neighbor is no longer seeing the Green Check Marks when Google Search Engine returns her results, when I and 2 other people who use Norton 360 are still seeing the Green Check Marks when Google Search Engine returns their results.
Based on what I have shared with you, what do I tell my neighbor? Do I tell her she will no longer be able to see the Green Check Marks when Google Search Engine returns the results.
I’m okay if I continue to see the Green Check Marks when the Google Search Engine returns the results. At this point, I’m not sure why I continue to see these Green Check Marks when my Google Search Engine returns results. Obviously I am doing something differently than my neighbor, but I have no idea why!
maybe, your neighbor is using Norton Safe Web + Norton Safe Search extension on Chrome
maybe, your neighbor is using an ad/content blocker?
&
maybe, you’re using Norton Safe Search webpage called on Chrome
maybe, you’re using a different ad/content blocker?
I’m not finding reference to Google search engine with your posted URL address/
I’m not knowing why your posted URL address has ver=3.23.0.14 & ends in =2022-10-11

When I use Norton Safe Web & Norton Safe Search extensions on Chrome and opt for Norton Safe Search results from Chrome address bar.
