I have come across two or three posters who could not see the green checkmark besides their Google search results either. Did you upgrade from a previous version to NIS 2010?
First, please do the following: open NIS 2010, go to Web, then to Settings, and under Safe Surfing, check if Enhance Search Engine Results is turned on. If that is the case, you will have to uninstall and reinstall NIS 2010.
You can either do this with the removal tool if NIS 2010 is the only product on your computer, or via the control panel.
re> Did you upgrade from a previous version to NIS 2010?
Yes, I Upgraded from NIS09 with the NIS10.1 Full Installation Package
re> check if Enhance Search Engine Results is turned on.
Yes ~ Enhance is on.
I spoke with Symantec and was advised this is a known issue and that a fix will be via Live Update. Chat did a Remote Access. Chat RA viewed the Norton safety rating (green checkmark) with Ask...but, not with google or yahoo. Chat RA advised me ~ not to worry. Remote Access looked through NIS UI and advised... my Upgrade install is good because status is Secure and because the absent rating Icon / checkmark is a known issue and fix will be via Live Update.
Might you have any way to confirm the absent checkmark is a known issue...I don't mind waiting for LU fix. Or, does the absent checkmark indicate a faulty Upgrade installation.
you can read brummie's thread over here - brummie had the same problem with the green ticks not appearing during a Google search; a reinstall solved the issue:
Very interesting...Symantec advised the absent checkmark has only been since 10.1 Live Update patch.
based on brummie's thread date stamp...it would appear the absent checkmark was before 10.1 LU patch and is related to a faulty install process. I'll take brummie's route and reinstall. Wonder, if issue is related to my Full Installation Package download or just my Install process. I'll report back ....
Thanks ~ also interesting....wonder why Symantec Support advised this as a known issue and to wait for LU to resolve. I may pursue this with Support ....just to see if their info is reliable or reliably wrong.
I suspected something was amiss... but, as with the absent checkmarks. Chat RA advised, the Errors and Error Reporting events are Normal ~ not to worry. (the time stamp for the Errors matches time of access the Internet)
Reinstall produced "checkmarks" and no "Errors / Error Reporting events".
Kudos Yasso and to Symantec... I'll reply to their Customer Survey
