Safe Web keeps turning itself on iOS 16

I keep Safe Web switched off because it stops pictures being automatically downloaded in emails. However, in the last couple of weeks, Safe Web has started turning itself back on after I have gone into the app and switched it off. I have reinstalled the app, but the problem persists. I’m running Norton 360 Deluxe 2.48.0.20221111.3 on iOS 16.1.1

@SOHEEL  Are you still seeing this issue?  I first tried disabling Safe Web and it can back on. But after I reported it to my contacts, I disabled Safe Web and so far it has remained off.

Great, thanks so much for your help! The one thing I will add is that this didn’t happen until recently, which leads me to think it is a regression. But let’s see what your Norton contacts say.

I have duplicated your issue with Safe Web iOS turning itself back on. I have asked my Norton contacts for information about whether this is by design or if it is a bug.  I'll update when I hear anything.

OK, thx. Can you play a bit with the Secure Web and Secure VPN? I mean to check if automatically restarting SW isn’t somehow related to enabled/disabled VPN. Just to rule out the possible interference between both.

Yes, I do use Secure VPN (and it’s the main reason I use Norton 360 on my iPhone), and it is configured to start automatically.

Just a thought, do you use Secure VPN feature in your Norton 360 Deluxe subscription? And if so, is this feature configured to start automatically when an unsecure Wi-Fi is detected?

Thank you.

Yes, I am aware that you just need to tap load content.

To confirm, I click on the Norton 360 icon on the Home Screen of my iPhone, click on “Security” and then click on “Internet Security”. Then I move the “Safe Web” toggle to off (title becomes “Browsing at Risk…Safe Web is off”.

It will stay off for a while, but a few hours to a few days later, I notice that the toggle is back to on again. I have been using Norton 360 on this phone for at least 3 years, and this problem has only just started happening.

I will update and test again as you suggest, thanks again for your help.

You are aware that you only need to tap on Load Content in the email to get all content loaded?

Just to confirm. You are definitely opening 360, and going to the Internet Security section to turn off Safe Web?

Give me a little time to test this.

In the mean time, there is iOS ver 16.1.2 available now. Can't hurt to update and test again.
