Safety Minder has disapeared from the computer!

I no longer see the paw in the corner, it no longer monitors my childs acounts, it just disapeared!  I still have a link in my programs to view the website and unistall the program, but that is it.  WHAT IS GOING ON?

Hi jamieann,

Please make sure your kid has Limited rights on the PC with Norton Safety Minder installed.  A kid with Administrator rights is able to disable or uninstall the program (I’m not saying that is what the kid did J).

Thanks,

Katie

I have the same issue. I can still access the online page and an option to remove this from my pc, however there is no option to ensure it is enabled. And the paw has disappeared from the tool bar at the bottom of the page. My childs activities have suddenly stopped being monitored. Could you please advise how to rectify this??

I can assure you my child does not have administarative rights.  He has limited.

Hi bec & jamieann,

I sent you a Private Message.  You may access this message by clicking the icon_notes_mail.gif icon in the upper right corner of the page.

I am experiencing the same problem. Safety minder disappears, looks like the framework falls over. I uninstall and reinstall and it works for a day. I also received notifications that the system time had changed. I have locked out the datetime.cpl to stop this.

System is XP pro. User has admin rights, SEP 11 MR4.

Any ideas what I should try next

Thanks

First off you child should not have admin rights, they should be set up as a limited user.

Second, if you have a framework crash that is reproducible, we would like to take a look at your system remotely.

Can you send me an email (in my profile) so we can figure this out as we have been unable to reproduce this issue in our QA labs.

Thanks,

Matt

I am having the same problem…the paw has disappeared and the only option I have is open the web page or uninstall teh program.  How do I know if it is working correctly on my computer an that it is still monitoring my children?  Also how do I get the paw back on the bottom corner of the page?

Have you tried a reboot?

Once you reboot do you see an error about the Symantec Framework has stopped?

Matt

I had this problem twice.  The first time this happened was after one day of installation.  I solved this problem by uninstalling and reinstalling.  During the unistallation process there were some framework error messages.  I submitted those messages to Microsoft.

After several weeks of operation, this happened again.  As I clicked the Safety Minder icon on the system tray, the icon just disappeared.  I visited this support page looking for help.  Since there is no live support for this product, I decided to uninstall and reinstall first before posting my problem.  Again, during the uninstallation process there were three framework error messages.  I submitted those messages to Microsoft.  I hope Microsoft would forward the error messages to Norton.

I am posting this in the hope that Norton would solved this problem or help us avoid this problem.

Conditions in previous two posts describe problem exactly. As a matter of interest what non microsoft applications are loading at start up on your machines. IE what icons are in your system tray beside the normal stuff?

:smileywink:

Hi Tong,

When you receive the Symantec Service Framework has stopped message next time, please leave the error on the screen and send me a PM.  We need to see the error to work on it. If you have any questions, please send me an email.

Thanks,

Katie

This has disappeared from my son's computer TWICE now.  I uninstalled and reinstalled it AGAIN last night, but no activity is showing!

there have been some framework issues, but I do not have the PC in my possession.

Son does NOT have admin privileges.

I liked the programwhen it worked, but will certainly NOT keep using it if it does this!

Does anyone know of a stable program with similar functionality?

Hi tmmmandm,

You mentioned in your post there have been some framework issues.  Do you mean you get framework error messages?  Are you able to reproduce the error consistently?

Thanks,

Katie

I've been having this problem intermittently for some time, and just the last few days have noticed that even my time restraints aren't being adhered to.  ie' I have my girls limited to 1 hour each on the PC but it is just not working.  There is no monitoring since the 19th.  We run on Vista Home Premium.

Please advise what we can do.  Really do need this to work, I believe it is a good system, but would like to fix the problem.

We have had no framework errors since i reinstalled.  But it logs NOTHING!  I have visited restricted sites oon his PC and receive block messages, but nothing goes into the activity or web logs!

PS- to the above message.  He uses Firefox only

STILL NO ACTIVITY showing and I was using the PC this morning!  I even went to blocked sites, and they WERE blocked… but nothing shows on the activity logs!

I received an alert that my daughter had tampered with the system the very first day of use. It also documented the time she signed on by noting that the Vista "parental controls have been enabled". I logged on the next day and tested it for myself. Once again it logged in the time when it noted the parental controls being enabled. I accessed the internet and the system froze. I ended the session through the task manager and was notified that Internet Explorer was not responding. When the system came back up, the moitoring symbol in the taskbar had disappeared, but the activity was still being documented on the web access. Reading the other users comments/problems, I am now concerned about the product reliability. Should I uninstall and re-install?
