I experienced some problem with one of my daughter’s pc. Both my daughter have similar laptops, fujitsu-siemens E8210. Running same OS, W7pro, and almost identical software. Both have used NIS2009, 2010 and now 2011. Before upgrading, I uninstall the former version, reboot, use the Norton’s removal tool, reboot again and then installed the new version.
The problem is that I have some slow internet connection. Using a rather fast fiber link, this is not expected. First test, using NIS 2011 and the latest safety minder, version 2.1.0.37. As you can see, I experience a high packet loss using pingtest.net.
And the corresponding test from speedtest.net.
Compared to my own PC and my second daugter's PC, this is not normal. I then uninstalled the safety minder, and tested again. NOTE: this test is performed under my administrator account, and not on their limited account. And, yes, I have also tested this at her account and the problem is also presnet there.
After uninstalling safety minder:
Installing safety minder again and the results again dropped.
Clearly, there must be a problem with safety minder or some of its components, maybe the framework?
Does someone out there have any explanation or even better, a solution?
If the internet connection is slow, it could be a compatibility issue. Please check the link below where shows the security products that the program is not compatible with.
Do you have any security products other than NIS installed on the PC with the issue?
You mentioned " Before upgrading, I uninstall the former version", You had an older version Norton Safety Minder installed? If so, did you experience the issue?
