Sales tax

I live in the state ofCalifornia.  Software and software upgrades downloaded are non-taxable.  When I go to upgrade my Mobile Lite on my Droid 3,  the application charges me $2.62 sales tax.   Now I have had the same problem every year when I renew my PC Norton applications.  I have to call every time to a rep and explain the non-tax issue.  I find this very strange that aCaliforniabase company much less a software company cannot properly write lines of code to accomadate the sales tax codes in the sale carts.

I did speak to a rep about theMobilesales tax issue:

“I have attempted a couple of times to contact you using your cell phone number as you requested. I have also left voice messages. In case you do not have access to your cell phone and cannot retrieve them I will let you know what I found out about the taxes and downloads in your state (California).

As stated in my voice messages, I was informed that when downloading the Norton Antivirus program for pc’s from our online Estore; should only associate as sales tax if it is appropriate for that state’s  tax laws. As for your “mobile” phone, and you want to get the Norton security application; you are directed to the “Android Market”. If you are getting a prompt to pay sales tax that you should not pay, you will need to contact them and inquire about the issue. If you go to the website www.us.norton.com/mobile-security you will see the option to the “Android Market”.

Now this really doesn’t make sense to me.
