Same issues with Safeweb verification--using web building tool-custom meta tag method does not work!

Went through the same thing in this thread (http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Norton-SafeWeb-Need-manual-assistance-ownership-verification-no/m-p/178594#M96106)...unfortunately solution doesn't work this time...

Why does this process have to be so difficult and time consuming?

Bottom line: have no access to root directory...no real metadata edit available to users of Website tonight (go daddy)

Instructions are/have been to "Use your site building program to create a custom meta tag with the exact name  norton-safeweb-site-verification  and the content to include your full 128 character code."  and so on...

did this and clicked verify...get the following:

Web site ownership verification failed. Copy the auth file to the root directory of your Web site or copy the meta_tag into your Web site`s home page.

Why hasn't this been pefected yet? ...there must be millions of people in my predicament,  using tools...even using the same one I am...Web Site Tonight!  I've wasted hours on this...and not even convinced of its value.

Phil...are you out there?

Thanks Phil... and I'm sure you understand my angst is not toward you...you've been nothing but helpful...

Okay, this should be any easy fix.

I have checked it twice, and there are only 127 characters in your authentication code. As you know, there should be 128.

Let me know how you do. I'll be around for a bit.

@#$% user error... I must have (repeatedly) dropped characters in the cut and paste... Too late to be doing this stuff for me I guess....

As always, Thanks Phil!

My pleasure!

I'm glad you got it resolved.

Have a great evening!
